Wild Things is great. It has some great comedy, a nice series of sound themes, nice eye candy for the lads and a good laugh for the lasses, and best of all, the only plot I've seen which makes it past the quadruple-cross. Not highly realistic, but it's TV, right?
Denise Richards is the daughter of THE top society family in Blue Bay, Florida. Neve Campbell is a piece of white trash who lives in a broken down caravan in mangroves and looks like a Goth. Matt Dillon is the up and coming star teacher at Blue Bay High and Kevin Bacon is the dodgy cop in the Blue Bay Police Department.
On first sight, Kelly (Richards) loathes Suzie (Campbell) and is intent on seducing her cute teacher Sam (Dillon), and Suzie loathes Detective Duquette (Bacon), for reasons that we don't find out until later. It's only after it becomes apparent how very close Suzie, Kelly and Sam actually are that the plot begins to thicken - and I won't spoil the fun.
It's a thriller that is so trashy, kinky and convoluted that you watch it all the way through, go "Eh?" and have another go - let's say it's the ONLY film I know where there are so many double-crosses that they had to tack an explanatory out-take on the end! Good to watch any time, with any company except possibly your granny, and some lovely sunny scenery for those who really miss the sun through ten months of the year!

Pretty good value for money. Good picture and sound quality, well cast, colours are strong and clear and the outdoor scenes are bathed in sunlight, skin tones look natural and not too bright. A playfully piano score and some pop music makes up the soundtrack.
Denise Richards & Neve Cambell did a good job in their roles. Richards plays a shallow spoilt beauty, a good character for her, she's not convicting anyone as a nuclear scientist. Bill Murray adds a touch of comic relief. The film is a bit of a deconstruction of a fictional rich shallow community in the USA. A web of greed, corruption, conspiracy and lies quickly unravels. Neve Cambell was great playing a totally different character to Scream a year before. However comparing her figure to Denise Richards, Cambell does look a bit short and squat when they're both next to each other but I suppose the cinematographer couldn't do much about that. The ending is a bit dumb too, and the overuse of twists starts to make it feel very one note.

It's the way they used to make them but without the 'skin'.
Convoluted plot that unfolds well enough towards the end, except the bit right at the end after the end. No need, we get it!
Excellent modern noir, delivers on a choice of despicable characters to cheer on.

With a quality cast this audacious 1990s thriller has jaw-dropping plot twists which even Hitchcock might balk at. Everyone involved must have had a hoot in this sleazy tale set amongst the affluent elite of southern Florida. Things look bleak for high school guidance counsellor Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillon) when he is accused of rape by two female students. However, unsurprisingly, things are not what they seem and this is one of those movies in which you just sit back and enjoy the convoluted and complex ride. There are enjoyable turns by Robert Wagner and Theresa Russell, but for me the stand-out performance is that of Bill Murray who plays a disreputable lawyer hired to defend Lombardo. Yes, there is a lot to criticise, but only if you approach it as something other than a trashy B-movie. Great fun.

Imagine one day in a beautiful south Flordia community, a rich woman's sexy daughter washing her handsome guidence consulars jeep and wants to sleep with him, but it becomes a twisted nightmare as the consular is accused of rape, but there is something else behind it. That is the backbone to WILD THINGS. WILD THINGS is defanly the original sexy twisted thriller of the year, that made Denise Richards and Neve Campbell, the sexiest young stars in a erotic thriller. The plot is clever and twisted and you've got to have snakeeyes to understand everything. The performances by Campbell, Richards, Dillion, Bacon and Murray (Ghostbusters fame) are something else. And the sex scene is breathtaking. Who ever wrote a good story to this is amazing. it's like the hidden clues like in the plot, and the actors do the plot as if it is their own. Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillion - There's something about Mary) a consular with a handsome charm doesn't realize that Rich girl Kelly Van Ryan (Denise Richards - The world is not enough, in here ultimate sex straved performance) is in love with him, but she accuses him of rape when he refuses to deflower her. And Suzie Toller (Scream's Never Campbell) too is accusing, but a detective named Ray (Kevin Bacon - The hollow man) has a bad feeling that the rape case maybe a game, but whose game? I have seen this a couple of times, the sex scene with Campbell, Richards and Dillion is truly something else. A CLASSIC THRILLER WITH A TWISTED INTELLIGENT STORY. I reccomended this to Amazon customers 18 years and over it contains Thriller violence, Sex invovling high level Denise Richards nudidty and some bad lananuge. I give it a high score of: 10/10 *****

‘Wild Things’ is a classic. It deserves its top marks. Of course, in the history of cinema it probably won’t be talked about in the same terms as other ‘classics,’ such as The Godfather and Empire Strikes Back. ‘Wild Things’ is a different type of film for a different type of audience.

It’s a twisty-turny thriller where you can’t really say too much about the plot without giving away important information that is best left kept secret until you actually watch it. Basically, it involves plenty of glamorous (and murderous!) back-stabbing, by beautiful people in beautiful locations. If you’ve watched the trailer (and I suggest you don’t, seeing as that too gives away more than you really need to know) then you’ll see that there’s a strong ‘sexual element’ to it. Therefore, critics can easily dismiss the film as just some (slightly classier) p0rn and leave it at that.

Yes, sex is an important part of ‘Wild Things,’ but, like I say, it’s so much more than that. Matt Dillon, Kevin Bacon, Neve Campbell are all great, but, for me, the stand-out performances come from Denise Richards and Bill Murray. Murray normally turns in an excellent performance in whatever he does, so you’ll probably expect it from him. However, since Wild Things, Denise Richards has taken more than her fair share of criticism concerning her acting abilities. I can tell you though she shines here (and I’m not just talking ‘visually!’) and even gets what I would say is the best line of the film – something about ‘taking the car,’ but you’ll have to watch the film to see the context she uses it in.

If you’re not offended by plenty of sex in a film and you like your films with more plot twists in than a filmic corkscrew, then give Wild Things a go.
