This is the show's only season, and it's such a big mistake. The show itself is so gripping I found myself planning my entire week around watching that week's episode! There's always a lot going on in the medical drama aspect, which is exciting enough as it is (they mean traumas in the literal sense of the word - they've had helicopters crash, bridges collapse, snipers hunting them, cars drive through houses etc), but it's the characters that really make this show great. There's six main characters, teamed up into pairs, and it's how all of them stick together that makes this show gold. They've all got back stories, some of them mixed together, and they delve into these now and again, with as much medical drama as there is character focus. In the first episode, one of the medics is the only survivor of a helicopter crash, and future episodes deal with his PST and hard but slowly crumbling defence attitude. Nancy and Glenn's ambulance is hit by a bus in another episode, and the fear all the characters express really shows how much of a team they are. You've got your few romances too, but just enough to not go overboard.
I loved this programme. I'm not completely sure what it is about it, but I fell in love with the characters, and the episodes were exciting enough to keep me wanting more time after time. There should definitely have been a season 2. Heck, there should have been a season 9 if they continued the way they were going.

I originally watched two episodes of this for a cameo of an actor I liked, but then found myself watching the entire show from start to finish. It is such an interesting and gripping show that not only brings you the action, but also emotion of life. It follows the lives of some EMTs (Emergency Medical Technician), from those on the ground to the air rescue team. The first few eps are dramatic and the amazing rescues and tales of hope, to the sorrows of loss get you hooked. Then it moves more to focus on them, the actual people and how their lives can be affected by the job they do. The characters are likeable and all the stories I found believable and exciting. I have seen Casualty and Holby city, Greenwing, Doctors, Scrubs and Grey's anatomy and I like this a lot. All in all it is a fantastic and moving series, which delves into the lives of those who are first on scene. It is a tribute to those people who do this job for a living and I am very happy to know that those dedicated people would be there to help me if I was in trouble. So I would recommend watching it and can't wait to have it myself on DVD. Bring on season 2!

The only bad thing about Trauma is that some idiot in power cancelled it and there won't be any more.
The series follows San Fransisco Fire Department Paramedics & EMTs as they battle to save lives in often austere conditions.
Both my wife & I found it compelling viewing and watched all 18 episodes in less than a week. It is far superior to any UK tv show of this genre and it is an absolute travesty that it has been binned. Come on NBC, pull the finger out and get series 2 made!!!

I watched this show when it originally aired on television and I've just finished watching all 18 episodes on DVD. I'm not normally a fan of medical related dramas but the action packed trailer I seen on television intrigued me enough to watch the first episode and after that, I was hooked.

The series follows three Ambulance crews in San Francisco: there is Rabbit and Marisa in the helicopter, Boone and Tyler in one Ambulance (or 'rig' as they're called) and Glenn and Nancy in another. They are the main characters of the show and there's also a few main ones based back at the hospital including a doctor called Diane whose played by Scottie Thompson. I watched the film Skyline recently where she was the lead actress and I was racking my brains trying to figure out where I had seen her before and I remembered it was from Trauma (with the help of Wikipedia!)

The show focuses on the paramedics calls which range from road traffic accidents to heart attacks and gunshot wounds. In addition, there are storylines going on for each character. Rabbit is a bit of a cowboy and is struggling to come to terms with a helicopter crash he was in during episode 1 whilst his work partner Marisa is an army veteran from Iraq.

Boone is having problems with his marriage and also having to come to terms with the fact that his work partner is gay. Nancy is a medical doctor working as a paramedic and her work partner Glenn is a 'Proby' (on Probation) and he's aspiring to write a book on his experiences of street medicine. There is a romance between Nancy and Rabbit and between Glenn and Dr Diane.

I was gutted when I read the reviews on Amazon and discovered there would be no Season 2, especially after watching the Season 1 finale as I want to see how the story develops further.

San Francisco. Eighteen episodes focus on its paramedics, helicopter and all. Their lives are at risk as they strive to save others. Often controversial decisions need to be made, careers on the line if thought deviating from strict medical procedures.

It all sounds most dramatic. That spectacular start further raises hopes. A disaster indeed! Instantly viewers are aware TRAUMA refers not only to patients but the paramedics themselves, they deeply affected by horrendous experiences.

Enjoyment of the series probably depends on how many similar shows have been seen. Much also depends on how one takes to the characters. Rabbit - a charismatic Jack the Lad, or an irritant far too full of himself?

Sadly I had concerns as the series progressed. Most of the stunts were great, but so much seemed rather shallow - certain characterization, some trite dialogue, space-filling "romantic" sequences which did not really convince. Towards the end major storylines disappeared and aspects seemed either tagged on or cobbled together.

Wikipedia reveals why. Apparently there had been confusion how long the series should be. Thirteen episodes? Then more were decided, the actual total repeatedly subjected to changes - hardly conducive to a much needed firm sense of direction.

A curiosity then. Fans have enthused. Others may consider the series but a modest contribution to an overcrowded genre.
