There's sex and violence aplenty in this tense horror. Three women on holiday in Majorca meet four deckhands in charge of a yacht. Drinks flow but as the sun sets things turn nasty with aggressive sex, drugs and camcorders leaving each one to fight for survival.

Donkey Punch is such a hit and miss film. Directed by Oliver Blackburn in his feature length debut, it features some interesting ideas but ultimately falls flat by bringing nothing new to the table and by having hit-and-miss dialogue and acting. Easily the best cast member is Jaime Winstone, showing she maybe has had the acting genes passed down from her dad but everyone else muddles their way through. Blackburn has managed to make what looks like a well-polished and professional film, and he manages to build up the story reasonably well, but after the 'Donkey Punch' it does lose its way and doesn't keep the tension or suspense required to keep the viewer hooked. Overall, it is a bit of a missed opportunity but still worth a rental. 2.5/5

Here are three reasons why Donkey Punch is one of the finest films ever made.
1) The plot is amazing. Three chavvy tarts meet some creepy blokes on holiday, then decide to join them on a luxury boat for some fun and frolics. There are loads of tense scenes and plot developments in the first thirty minutes. I particularly liked the part where one of the girls has to decide whether to go swimming or not. Gripping.
2) The characters are all really loveable, especially the three braindead chavs who accept drugs off complete strangers and allow them to video their "adult fun". Good idea. The four guys are very sympathetic aswell, with clearly defined characters that really make us care about them.
3) The incident that fuels the latter part of the story is very accurate and believable, because you definitely can kill someone instantly by slapping them on the back of the neck. Other lethal techniques include a chinese burn and a dead leg.
This movie will probably go on to win more Academy Awards than both Godfather films put together and will doubtless be remembered in years to come as the most influential and original slasher film in history.

I've never attended media or drama school , never done film studies or anything like that but I imagine that if I had one of the things they would tell you is, if you are making a film where characters are in genuine peril make sure that the audience cares about some of them . Otherwise the audience has no emotional investment in the piece and it fails as a true drama. It helps if they can act too.
Donkey Punch ultimately fails because it is (mostly) populated by loathsome characters doing squalid things and then turning on each other like a pack of rabid polecats. Three friends from Leeds-Kim (Jaime Winstone) , Tammi (Nicola Burley) and Lisa ( Sian Brekin) are on holiday in Majorca when they meet up with a gang of lads who have access to a very nice yacht. Seduced by the glamour of the boat, the location and the boys they allow themselves to be taken out to sea . A jokey interlude leads to a sexual reference that has tragic ,though slightly unbelievable, consequences , and before long everyone is at each others throats like contestants on "Come Dine With Me " but without the sarcastic voice over( that would have helped make the film more enjoyable ) and the body count starts to rise .
I have no problem with young people, hell I was one myself once, and have no problem with them enjoying themselves. However I would caution any young women to be wary of boys they have just met and definitely not to do drugs and have unprotected sex ( though it transpires STD,s are the least of their worries) with them .Though as it happens a neck brace is needed more than a condom. This unfortunate proclivity means I didn't have as much sympathy with them as I might have done ,especially since the lads were such a set of objectionable toe-rags.

I love this movie not sure why I just do. Could it be the way the supposed friends suddenly turn on each other and show their meaner sides. Probably, but I also like the thrills once they start and the dirty little secrets are exposed. A good movie (not a great movie) but I love the way the director made it. 8 stars!

This starts off quite slowly but it progresses into a fast action packed movie. 3 girls take A trip on a yacht with men they just met. The encounter becomes drug and sex fuelled and of course everything turns nasty. A watchable movie.

Hassle free transaction.

No spoliers - or even spoilers...

First I saw the title and thought wha...? Then i read the blurb, and thought you've got to be kidding. On so many levels.

Obviously I had to check this out. And I'm glad I did. The characters were all remarkably believable. It all just seems so ordinary. Which makes it so much more anticipatory. Are they going to show it? how will they show it? and if they do what then? In some respects it would have been even better if you hadn't known what was coming. So if you know nothing about this film get it NOW don't read anymore and just watch it.

The start seemed almost drifting but sets it up nicely. There is the usual mix of characters shy trappy creepy scary a sort of cross between the spice whatsits and the snow whites chumps.

It's not until you sit down and think about it that you actually start to see the dilemma - what WOULD you do? And the answer to this is what makes up the second and third thirds of the film. Apparently a olot of first timers in the crew but it doesn't show. its well acted, well scripted, well filmed and well edited. (the editing is bourn out by the scenes that were cut. NOT because they were too rude but because they altered the flow of the story)

I really couldn't predict the out come. And you do find yourself asking 'oh yeah and will they come back after a false ending...?' to answer it watch it..
the events were utterly believable - adding to the menace.

Some might draw parallels to Dead Calm but that's not really valid. I'm sure the location distracts from other stories that must be similar. But it is the location that is quite clever and plays a key point in the saga.
