Product description

The Arduino Pro Mini is SparkFun's minimal design approach to Arduino. This is a 5V Arduino running the 16MHz bootloader. Arduino Pro Mini does not come with connectors populated so that you can solder in any connector or wire with any orientation you need. We recommend first time Arduino users start with the Uno R3. It's a great board that will get you up and running quickly. The Arduino Pro series is meant for users that understand the limitations of system voltage (5V), lack of connectors, and USB off board.
This board connects directly to the FTDI Basic Breakout board and supports auto-reset. The Arduino Pro Mini also works with the FTDI cable but the FTDI cable does not bring out the DTR pin so the auto-reset feature will not work.
The latest and greatest version of this board breaks out the ADC6 and ADC7 pins as well as adds footprints for optional I2C pull-up resistors!
Note: A portion of this sale is given back to Arduino LLC to help fund continued development of new tools and new IDE features.
Dimensions: 0.7x1.3" (18x33mm)

Weighs less than 2 grams!

Wow just wow!!!! I cannot believe the cost of these... £1.99 and free delivery!!!! Such a bargain I am really over the moon.

Truth be told I really did not expect much at this price point and half expected either to be a real disaster getting them to work or they would be so incredibly slow and or unstable they would be next to useless ... delighted to be proved wrong.

Granted had to buy myself a USB to FTDI / Serial Converter to connect the computer to the Pro Mini which for someone fairly new to Arduinos was all very new to me but it all went really smoothly and worked with a minimum of fuss and bother than even I could manage it with my very limited skills.

Once connected with the USB to Serial converter it is just the same to upload sketches to as an normal Arduino such as the Uno so all identical in that respect but I actually found it to be faster to upload to than my official Arduino Uno which it shouldn't be given these are half the speed of the Uno but that's the way it's working out for me.

I cannot wait to use these in a very long list of projects given how ridiculously tiny they are and also how cheap at 2 quid a pop they are so affordable even for someone on a strict limited hobby budget set by the powers that be (the wife).

Little board even came with header pins for the usual Arduino pins and also a 90 degree angled set for the FTDI connection. I was dreading soldering these as normally I cannot solder to save my life and genuinely really struggle to solder two wires together let alone a ton of tiny close together pins..... so at the recommendation of a friend I tried "full fat" solder meaning proper led solder and wow what a difference I had these soldered up in literally under 2 minutes. No idea why lead free is so difficult to use..... but that's a discussion for another time and place.

Definitely very impressed and as I say over the moon as both it's price and performance. It will be a very long time before I am this impressed with a item again. Will be buying this item again and again... already placed a order for another 5.

If your happy using an UNO then this board isn't much more of a challenge to setup. You need to get an FTDI breakout and solder some pins to the board...If your comfy with that then you probably already have some ideas you want to solder up anyway. I used it for making a small GPS and it work great, far more reliable than the Arduino Nano.

Watch out with these boards ! The ones that are sent to me are sold as 5V 16MHz, but when I actually tested the boards, they only work well with 3.3V 8MHz processor. If you upload any sketch using 16MHz processor, you get error in your serial port !!! Was happy with my other purchases but these ones let me down :/

    Works well

All received in good time and all worked. In order to use an FTDI basic breakout is required and a FTDI cable. Also, as usual no instructions supplied but enough detail is in the comments section to find all information needed.

Just what I was looking for, for numerous projects. Well constructed and obviously well designed so no worry's there and the support is available from you-tube and a welcome addition to project building on a small scale.
