This drive caddy is by the far the best quality and value for money drive caddy at the cheaper end of the market, and I'd rate it above some of the badly-designed 'top-end' models that cost ten-times as much.

Snug-fitting clip-together design:
No tiny screws to fiddle about with - the lid just levers off and clamps back down on top of the hard-drive with minimal effort, and holds the caddy together firmly. This snug-fit design can make fitting the drive a little awkward - but not enough to cause serious problems.

USB connection:
The caddy has a standard mini-USB port which on modern high-power USB 2 ports was compatible with the cables from my camera, mp3 player, and other portable hard-drives, on older low-power USB ports it requires the y-splitter cable that ships with it.

Drive Protection:
This caddy is perfectly fine for most household data-recovery, data-backup, and data storage, but the snug-fit design provides no real protection against knocks, bumps, or other physical damage to the drive, meaning that it isn't really suitable for serious portable use unless you buy a padded case for it (which is a good idea anyway).
The fake leather slip-case that comes with it is purely cosmetic and provides no protection at all.

-Works perfectly fine on Windows 7
-Bought this to use the hard drive from my dead laptop as an external hard drive
-Comes with double headed USB but you only need one head when using USB 2.0
-Build quality is good for the price and the green LED is useful to know if its working

Overall I would recommend this product to anyone!

Well, it's under a fiver, it works well & looks ok...what more do you want? Comes with 2x USB ends for powering certain drives.

No trouble setting it up, I see peoples' point with saying it's a tight fit but really it fits fine if a little tight. Build quality isn't brill but it looks like it'll last so no problems there!

For under £3.50 it's a bargain!

If you want an external hard drive that will survive trekking through the jungle or deep sea diving, then this isn't the right product for you. If however you are are after a way to turn old unused laptop hard drives into perfectly good, USB powered external drives for use around the home and office, then you are unlikely to do any better.

Installing the drive is simple and quick, and connecting to a pc is painless. The supplied USB cable is an excellent feature, as it allows you to connect a second USB port in parallel, if the available power is insufficient from just one port. Not needing an external power supply is an absolute bonus, especially for travelling. The overall look of the package is that of a much more expensive item, and the supplied carry case should keep the whole thing safe when on the move.

One minor suggestion - if you expect to have more than one of these (and I think you will want more), go for a variety of colours - it would make it easier to know which drive is which! :)

A nice little case easy to fit hard drive and connect to PC. Only downside is that is is entirely screwless which means that the top cover does not stay on very well. There is a little sticky back sheet included, but not sure what this is for.

Is good enough to allow me to plug in my hard drive from my failed laptop and recover the data. Probably not good enough for travelling around with, atlhough the little leather bag is a nice addition.

For the price this is a little beauty. The metal is cheap and tacky, but for this price what do you expect! The only gripe that I would have was that the case was a little small for the 2.5in HDD I was wanting to put in it - I could connect it no problem, but the drive was a little too thick to put the lid on, although this could be the problem of the HDD rather than this case.

The data transfer rate from the provided cable was very acceptable, and for the price, even with the little problem, I was thrilled with this product.

I purchase this to make a laptop hard drive a portable device, so that I could store my music in and then play through the USB port in my car.
The fit in this case was perfect. It took the external hard drive very well not leaving any space for the hard drive to move around the case, and was very easy to fit not needing any tools at all.The case came with a cable with 2 output USB plugs to power it.
If you are looking for a simple case that is easy to setup, then this is perfect!
I received this at a discounted price in return of an honest review, and I can recommend this as a basic HDD case!

Absolutely superb value for money and worked perfectly. I recently picked up about 20 small 2.5 drives and needed to do something useful with them, so I bought half a dozen of these little cases to make external backup drives for when I'm travelling and doing my photography.

For the price, yes they're cheap and cheerful. You get a casing, a cable and pouch. The casing is simply a black cover, thin sheet steel, you put the connector onto the drive, push the lot into the casing being careful and then snap the casing shut. There's a indicator LED for drive access on the back.

No they're not Seagate/Hitachi quality but they're also a fraction of the price. They do the job and they're absolutely superb value for money.
