Product description

A White Christmas On Gosling Farm A heavy snow storm takes everyone by surprise on and around Gosling Farm. Stan makes sure that all the animals are safe and fed, and then sets out to help neighbours who are snowed-in. Little Red Tractor struggles bravely through deep snow and blizzard conditions to make sure that milk, eggs other essential supplies get through. With all the extra work, Stan forgets to do the Christmas shopping, but his neighbours guess this might be the case and rally round to make sure that Stan has all he could wish for on Christmas Day. The Day Of The Shipwreck On a hot day in August, Stan sits on Little Red Tractor s front wheel to cool off. He listens to all the familiar country sounds, but amongst them he hears a call for help. A small boat has broken down in the river, with a young man and two children on board. Stan, Patch and Little Red Tractor go to the rescue. A Real Dairy Farm The real Stan visits a farm where they have a herd of 70 Friesians. These cows provide the milk for a small but thriving dairy business. We follow the milk from the milking parlour through various stages of production and into the shops.

little red tractor Christmas special dvd

I got this for my 18 month old son and it is definitely not for his age. I did not read the reviews so did not realise that it was not like the normal Little Red Tractor programmes on Cbeebies and the other Little Red Tractor DVDs (will not make the mistake of not reading the reviews again). This is probably for an older child who has not seen or heard of the little red tractor. Also Brian Glovers voice does drown on even for my age group!

A different take on the Little Red Tractor DVDs of late.

I had a feeling this one was going to be a different version of the Little Red Tractor DVDs I am used to, and I was right, it certainly is. For one thing, it is not an animation featuring moving characters, but animated cartoon instead. Also Stan looks totally different to the Stan we are used to, in that 'this' Stan is a much older character, all the other characters are different too, though Stumpy seemed more or less the same, though his wife totally different, much younger and not as nice, and worst thing of all, Mr. Jones was nothing whatsoever like the character we all know and love, in that 'this' one was a country type farmer with a Welsh accent, (as maybe the author originally intended, the character being named Jones and all!) and with no real characterisation to speak of, whereas the Mr Jones I love as being my favourite character, is very posh and always being a bit mingy with money and has a very definite character and very funny indeed. That said, this is still a very good dvd, if you take it like it is, a nice tractor story with some nice snow scenes and an interesting real life video of life on a farm featuring a real farmer. I had a little perusal on Amazon and found that there are quite a few VHS tapes featuring Little Red Tractor, and it looks like those are the tape versions of this cartoon version of Little Red Tractor. I would be interested in seeing more of them released onto dvd as it seems some of the others contain real life footage too, which makes a nice change.
Now, let's also have some more releases of the usual format we are used to, I am getting withdrawal sypmptons from not seeing any new stories featuring the posh Mr Jones! ;-)
