Starcraft II is a fantastic strategy game, and is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys difficult games that require thinking and fast reactions.

Pros:

Remains extremely similar to the original Starcraft, while still making many improvements to gameplay elements
Enjoyable, lengthy campaign with cool characters (like Jim Raynor)
Story campaign has well designed 'hub' elements where you can upgrade units, etc.
Lots of interesting new units
Great graphics, sound & music (you can choose to play using the original or the new soundtrack, both are fantastic)
Difficult gameplay that requires thinking and fast reaction speed
3 cool races to play in custom matches
Great online gameplay

Cons:

Can be difficult for players new to the genre, or even just new to Starcraft (multiplayer is pretty brutal / steep learning curve)
Story is Terran only - you must buy the other two campaigns separately to play those races in their respective story / campaign modes

I'll begin by saying that if you have purchased starcraft 2: wings of liberty you should purchase both :Heart of the swarm and :Legacy of the void in order to experience starcraft as it should be experienced. How good is it you say? well, put it this way: I couldn't get my hands on a single copy of wings of liberty,Heart of the swarm or even Legacy of the void in any of the GAME stores i visited. They were always sold out and had lots of back orders from customers. This is why ordering from amazon.com is one of the best ways to get your hands on all three titles at once. The best RTS of all time since starcraft with broodwar, (well number 1 in korea for starters) :) .

If you're not interested in competitive online play, there's little use you'll get out of this.

The skirmish, calling "training" here, is absurdly hard for casual play. It also presumably won't work if you don't have internet connection.

The campaign is good enough, but really, although you have different options adding to the replay value, it's not something I'd imagine playing that much.

Update: The characters are fairly endearing and so are the requests for help from various units but I can't get past the focus on online multiplayer.

Fun Game, Amazing gameplay, mechanics are a little tricky to pick up but if you like taking the time out to learn a new, complex, fun game then this is perfect! I played Halo Wars before buying this and this is more of an in depth and expanded version of the game. It would be nicer to have it more easily explained though. Seems like a lot all at once but the story, characters and gameplay/mechanics are all good :)

Only Got this for Multilayer never touched single player, Normal multilayer games are Okish Gets bit boring after a while.. Main Reason i love the game because of the "Arcade" Feature where people make mods and you can play them online. If you Like Playing against real people should try this out.. Only negative is that you have to buy Expansion Pack "Heart of swarm" to get a rank level where other players can see don't get why you have to buy Expansion pack so other players can just see your rank level.

This game is great! Haven't played such a great game in a while. The story continues from starcraft 1 and begins with the Human faction. Blizzard has divided up starcraft 2 into three sections and Wings of Liberty is all Human faction. The next one (coming out soon) is the Zerg and then the Protoss. What I love about this game is that its not just the battlefield you are playing but you get to go around the Raynors ship and interact with people and objects. This is a new and a great addition. I can't wait for the next one!! I would recommend this game to anyone who loves strategy games. Have fun!

Once the first mission was completed, my kid told me that we had to pay around £40 online for other missions, otherwise the game appeared to be over - having paid around £30 and had a lot of trouble getting the game to run, I wasn't game for this !
The game itself is good, but the support from Blizzard appears to be well criticised on the web and I soon realised getting throught the initial game problems we would be on our own. Better support here by Blizzard could go a long way to winning customers...

I played the original when I was young and loved it. The sequel doesn't disappoint. You build buildings, produce units and attack the other team. Unlike Command and Conquer (C&C) where you don't have such tight unit control and the buildings tend to be tougher SC2 is all about micro control of units.

Fun at first this is meant to differentiate the men from the boys in allowing it not simply to be a resource game i.e. whoever has the most units wins. I say men from boys because it is the boys who win hands down at this. I say fun at first because the men with day jobs die as is appropriate as they have jobs to go to in the morning. Unless of course playing computer games is your job which is not as uncommon as you might thing for SC2 with a big Korean/US and European gaming community.

Honestly this is a really great game that rewards your skill and ability if you are prepared to put everything on hold but is still great for novices who just want to enjoy the great game play or the nostalgia like me. And the careful balancing means you will be playing people of your own ability - or you can play the single player campaign which is not an after thought but genuinely entertaining.

Definitely try it you like this sort of thing. This and SC1 are probably one of the "great" games in the pantheon of game history - it was genuinely something new when it first came out.
