The series follows the adventures of ace spy Danger Mouse (voiced by David Jason) and his loyal but unreliable hamster sidekick, Penfold (Terry Scott). Good grief! Every episode ever!

For those of you who came in late: popular kids cartoon of the 1980's, dangermouse is the world's greatest secret agent. From his base beneath a pillar box in mayfair, he and his trusty assistant penfold fight the evil plans of the diabolical toad baron silas greenback.

A hugely popular show at the time, and one that can be enjoyed by both kids and grown ups, thanks to it's smart self knowing humour. On many occasions characters will reference the fact that they are starring in a cartoon, and the fourth wall gets broken regularly.

The dvd does indeed contain every episode ever made. Not entirely sure how the count is reached, as some were fifteen minutes long, and some were five short five minute episodes combined into one five part story. The prints clearly haven't been touched as the five parters have been edited together, and are probably still the same prints of these that were used for the the video releases twenty years ago. But the picture quality is fine, and it's delightfully nostalgic to see the thames tv logo again at the front of them.

Extras are rather cursory. A few behind your scenes features and interviews taken from tv shows made a long time ago, and a handful of games. An unbroadcast pilot episode is an interesting curio as the voices of the main characters are completely different.

But no matter. This is every episode ever made of one of the best cartoon shows, at a reasonable enough price. A great package.

Every DANGER MOUSE episode, but all mixed up!

I used to watch this when first on TV & the re-runs. It first used to be shown in 5 minute episodes daily so odds are you'll miss one & find the series hard to follow as I did. Now every Danger Mouse minute is on this DVD set, the 5 minute parts are edited back into a full story. Following seasons changed the format around adding to the confusion. But there is still a real MESS with stories not in the real order of showing, ie the unhelpfully un-numbered discs, the first one 'ROGUE ROBOTS' features 6 from 1981 series 1, 2 from 1982 series 3 & one from series 10 from 1992! The disc titles do match up (almost, typos excepted) with IMDB listing for the show, so if you know how, make your own chronological set! I don't like watching things out of their correct order, spoils the flow! 5 Stars for the show, for the set itself, well...

The Complete DM

I absolutely love this set!!! DangerMouse was a huge part of my childhood (I'm now late 20s) and it's great that every episode is now available... probably worth clearing this up - there were 161 episodes originally but some of them were 5 minute serials of a story, which have been edited together to form one longer episode, hence just the 89... (hope that made sense!)

It's fantastic that I'm now able to share these with my friends and family (old and young), and I have to say the humour hasn't dated at all - in fact I'm laughing at more now then I ever did!

The Best Programme Ever Made.

With the duo of David Jason and Terry Scott playing the lead characters you really do get spoliled. David Jason had been in the public spotlight earlier and in this helped him tremendously, the voice straight away tells you how good he's going to be! Terry Scott voices penfold perfectly and casting him meant that you knew that his comic acting was going to be used well. I'm 20 and saw Dangermouse when i was about 3,4 or 5 and loved it so much that I remembered it all the way through my childhood and no adult T.V programme or kids programme has been any better. There are jokes within this that kids won't get, this isn't a bad thing. If you buy this DVD your kids/you will love it and when the kids get older they will watch it and adore it more.
You will see the same shot again and again but this adds to the enjoyment because you know the budget wasn't much and you will compare it to cartoons today. The characters even mention the fact its the same again and again. The evil doers that DM and Penfold have to overcome are fantastically thought up. It really is a wonderful programme.
Soon the whole nation will be saying "Crumbs" and "Si Barone", please.

Every Danger Mouse cartoon in DVD

Danger Mouse became a classic almost in the same moment that was first broadcasted in September 1981. This 12 dvd box set contains every adventure of the smallest great secret agent of the world, including the original pilot episode " The mistery of the lost chord " and never aired; this is, the whole ten seasons (1981-1992) and 89 cartoons: 161 if we count every five minutes episode of those that were conceived as cartoons in a cliff-anger format in five parts and here edited back into a full-story format. This edition also includes special features as "behind-the scenes" footage and interviews with Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall. Danger Mouse is still today one of the most imaginative and funny cartoon serial ever made. Brian Cosgrove and his team got to combine fine irony and the humour of Monty Python with drama and the most wackiest stories blending the parody of detective stories and secret agents films with funny surreal plots, science fiction and pop culture and satirical political vignettes as the satires to the british institutions, Whitehall bureaucracy included. "Danger Mouse" is as Looney Tunes or Max Fleischer cartoons that kind of entertainment for "kids" of all ages that got to make us episode over episode a little bit more clever.

The first thing that captivated me when I discovered these fantastic cartoons in the early eighties is the use of collage techniques in the design of the settings: the mixture of drawn settings and hand-painted backgrounds with yuxtaposed cutout photographs of, for instance, famous London buildings; as also the very imaginative scripts. Our hero is a one eyed secret agent, a sort of modern day knight in a white suite that can be seen as a caricature of 007 and Sherlock Holmes put into one character who has his base beneath a pillar box in Baker street. Along with his clumsy and trusty assistant Penfold and the help of the most fantastic gadgets he is involved in the most bizarre adventures in his task of fighting against the most eccentric villains (demons from the 4th dimension, a vampire duck that dreams to become a T.V. star, explosive cans of custard ... ) and, of course, his arch enemy, the diabolical and megalomaniac Baron Greenback, a sort of Moriarty turned into a toad, saving one more time the world in the course of a tea rest and a tea rest.

The only bad point I find of this collection is that the episodes haven't been arranged in chronological order. On the other hand, we have finally here in an only box set all the whole show in wonderful restored prints.
