Absolutely useless. I wonder how it got published. 20 establishments in the whole of Northumberland. Fewer than that for Derbyshire, none for Derby itself. I've only got to walk a few hundred yards down my street to my dog friendly local in Derby. No pubs/ hotels/bnb's in Whitby; which is one of the most dog friendly places in the world. I can't imagine who would find this useful.I'm hesitating taking it to the charity shop, as I wouldn't want anyone else to waste their hard-earned.

This book is useful to find pubs where you can go with your dog, unfortunately it covers the whole UK and will therefor give only one or two pubs in any given area. This does not mean there are no other welcoming pubs there. However it is useful if one is in a part of the country one does not know. I would prefer a more comprehensive guide of specific regions.

Some of the details are not now available and go quickly out of date but good references and possibilities in different areas.

We're planning a stay-cation this year, choosing to travel around Scotland on a 10 day road trip with our puppy. The 422 page book devotes just 16 pages to Scotland and includes just 6 pubs. Wales also gets a whopping 16 pages too. Looking through the book at other counties, there does appear to be an eclectic collection of pubs, for example my home county of Cambridgeshire has, admittedly some nice pubs mentioned, but in little rural locations well off the normal beaten track. This book hasn't lived up to expectations set by the good beer guide.

Seems to be a fair bit out of date. Numerous proven local dog-friendly pubs just don't figure, so I'd guess there are more that we don't know about that are similarly missing. One or two omissions would be understandable, but more than that is not helpful

Not many pubs for areas? I know there is more than one in my area alone?? But these are not listed so not very useful at all

Would not pass on to anyone I thought if we were out for a day or weekend we could look up any area and find a pub or b& b to stop at.

I was looking for Hotels in and around Ambleside in the Lake District. As I am frequently in the are I know of several that accept dogs. None of them were listed in the book. The listing did contain a number of pubs which allowed dogs inside, however the information in some cases was well out of date as some[e.g. The Drunken Duck] are now very good restaurants and the "Pub" side has almost disappeared. This book needs some dramatic updating, certainly for the Lake District area. Was not worth the cost.
Better to get a list of Hotels and B&B's from the local Tourist Information Office and make contact with the accommodation provider yourself. Most good Hotels in the Lakes now allow One on two dogs per room.

This is essentially a long list of dog accepting places. It doesn't give you much information on the actual places, so don't buy this looking for a travel guide or places to stay info. Useful though if you want to know where you can take the dog, to then research more.
