Stylish Productivity Laptop - Yoga-style!
31 May 2019
I've been using this excellent yoga-style laptop for a week now and it goes everywhere with me. I actually purchased it as a gift for someone else but decided to keep it for myself and get them something else. Firstly, the build quality is sublime, robust, yet light and portable. The grey finish with gold accent is slick and catches the eye. The screen is full high definition, crystal clear, and colourful. The 6GB RAM enables Word and PowerPoint content to load quickly and they work as expected. Videos and Netflix look great too. I'm no gamer so can't comment. The 128GB SSD storage is expandable via micro SD card, but I was pleasantly surprised that there is an accessible SSD port on the bottom of the laptop. Connectivity is via one HDMI mini and two USB 3 ports, and they are powerful enough to power external hard drives. There is no Type-C connectivity. The speakers are underneath the laptop and whilst the sound is stereo and loud enough, the quality is lacking in any bass. My solution is Bluetooth or wired speakers or headphones. Oddly, there are no physical volume keys, either. The keyboard is a complete delight to use, with excellent key travel and spacing. It's even back-lit with two levels of brightness, which facilitates my use of it in the dark of my bedroom. The track pad is huge and effective in navigating large or small documents. Battery life is average - approximately 5 hours.
I never heard of Xido until recently but I'm glad I took a chance, because the yoga-style alternatives by household names such as Lenovo were way above my budget for the kind of features I needed. The ability to put the laptop in different positions; productivity, entertainment, tablet etc., is just great. No, this laptop/tablet/yoga is not perfect for the reasons given above, but I'm happy to own it. Oh, I should add that a mouse came as part of the promotion, which also caught my attention.
