Not as good as the original (CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS)
30 September 2018
This film was a combination of predictable and repetitive of the original. What I mean by that is how it was basically a gender swapped film, where all the action set pieces involved the mother instead of what had been previously done by the father, in the 1st film the father stops a train from derailing, So what do the do for the sequel have the mother stop a train from derailing, The first film involves the father going it alone, so they have to have the 2nd film be about the mother going it alone. The first film the villain is the male character who was angry at super heroes whilst growing up, the 2nd film the villain is a female character who was angry at super heroes whilst growing up.
By making the film ultimately about 1 main protagonist (like they did with the first half of the first film)they have missed a perfect opportunity of giving the audience a film which is about what the stories are supposed to be about, a family of crime fighting superheroes all working together to save the day. The film is called the Incredibles, Not Elastigirl + family, Instead they give the audience a film where the family again aren't communicating with each other, keeping secrets and sidelining the potential of the super powered abilities of the other family members, who until the last scene of the film are hardly crucial to the plot at all.
In short I feel that given 14 years they could have developed a more unique story line which would have involved the whole family more, instead of just having them get involved in the last 20 minutes or so. Jack Jack stole the show and as far as I can remember didn't hardly speak during the film, It says a lot about a movie when you consider the best character to be a baby who doesn't really talk.
