A tale of today's world. Brilliantly told.

When James Deegan's first novel, Once A Pilgrim, came out I bought it with some trepidation. I wondered if this was going to be yet another 'Former SAS sodlier' account of his service.
I was wrong. It is a brilliant novel. So good in fact I pre-ordered this second book, The Angry Sea. I was not disapointed with this one either.
James Deegan writes not only with the voice of experience but with an eye for detail which puts you, the reader, right in the midst of the story. His word pictures of the North African desert, Whitehall and everything between are superb. His depiction of the actions of his characters is on a par with Len Deighton and John Le Carre. When they stop writing we will always have James Deegan.
This is not simply a re-write of the experiences of a very experienced soldier in the British army, it is a novel based in today's world. Extremely well written and gripping from start to finish.
