Top critical review
If I were rating on cuteness alone Vector would score five stars.

I'd love to give this little robot 5 stars and if I was just rating on cuteness and "personality" I probably would. Unfortunately if this is to become more than just an expensive toy there also needs to be some relatively useful and reliable functionality. I wasn't expecting much at this early stage especially as I'm aware Anki is planning to increase functionality over the next few months etc. However, I'd say they also need to work on reliability too, I've lost count of the number of 915 error messages I've received. After a reboot all seems ok again but it's a bit if a pain. Vector also seems to keep losing WiFi connection although my other WiFi connected devices don't seem to have a problem.
This could never be considered value for money as, let's be honest, you really don't need one of these. You buy it because you want it and at the moment I still want it. So even with these initial problems I'm going to hold out and give Anki the chance to sort them out and increase Vectors functionality. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the novelty of having a "pet" robot in the house who "sometimes" remembers my name, can tell me the weather, play black jack, dance and take a photo.
Although it's worth mentioning that contrary to the adverts I've found Vector cannot be left on a table unsupervised as "he" still manages to fall off on occasions. I've bought a tray (not the expensive £29.99 Vector Space) just a regular inexpensive tray with high sides and this has stopped Vector from falling off the table while still being large enough for "him" to play with "his" cube and find the charger when required.
So in summary, Vector is cute, charming and fun but currently a little unreliable and lacking in functionality, so if you are looking for a sensible reason to buy one (unless you are a programmer intending on contribute to creating functionality) there isn't one. As I said earlier, you buy one for no other reason than because you want one. Thank you Anki for offering your support as a result of this review.
