This review is based on watching the film at home on Blu-Ray.
It's always incredibly difficult to make a sequel to a film as wacky and amusing as "Despicable Me" because you can't just repeat the same formula and expect it to be as funny, but if you vary it too much you risk disappointing the people who enjoyed the first one. However, the creators of the first film in this series have now managed two successful sequels and a prequel.
The four films in the series are, in chronological sequence,
At the start of the film, the former supervillain Gru (Steve Carell) and his new wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) are settling into married life and raising their three adopted daughters while working as agents for the Anti-Villain League. But they run into some career difficulties after an operation against former 80's child star turned supervillain Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker) does not go quite as planned.
Then Gru discovers that he has a long-lost twin brother - who is not at all waht he expected.
Gru must battle both his own worst instincts and the most dangerous villain he has ever faced while Lucy is learning to be a mum and the Minions get fed up with following the straight and narrow but are no better at villainy without Gru than they were before they met him ...
I didn't personally find this film quite as laugh-till-your-sides-hurt funny as "Despicable Me 2" or "Minions" but it did have me laughing out loud at frequent intervals and it also had some genuinely touching moments.
Superb voice acting by Carell, Wiig, Parker and several of the supporting voice actors, particularly Steve Coogan and Julie Andrews, and really superlative animation.
There are also some quite entertaining and well crafted extras on the Blu-Ray disc.
The bottom line is that if you liked the other films in the series it is extremely likely that you will enjoy "Despicable Me 3."
the bratt actor is nolonger wanted and so gets revenge by stealing the large pink diamond and getting his revenge on Hollywood.gru meets his twin brother gru as the minions leave him to get arrested (the minions) spend time in prison terrorising the prisoners and getting tattoos.the girls go to find a unicorn .will it come true .what will happen to gru and his wife and his twin brother..aaaaaaaaaah get it and see.laughter and excitement all the way.great for the children and to go with the first and secong despicable dvds.RECOMMEND
This film arrived today and I couldn’t wait to watch it. Ok so I’m a self confessed Minion fan so maybe I’m a bit biased. Anyway it follows Gru and Lucy trying to fight evil against the odds whilst contending with Gru’s twin brother ( a master criminal in training). The Minions end up on a side story before realising they need to return to their family. I love the X factor / talent show scenes and the prison break is classic Despicable Me. I laughed out loud at the antics of Gru’s brother. Animation classic. This is a really good family film that kids (and adults) of all ages will enjoy. Sometimes it’s just nice to relax and watch something innocent amusing and with a happy ending. I loved it.
Minions are a form favourite in our family, so on receiving this today we had two extremely happy children which is hard doing with an age gap with one being 4yr old girl and the other being an 11yr old boy!! Happy quiet kids = very very happy parents who can sigh a relief of calmness bestowed in the house whilst they both sat glued to watch Gru and minions newest adventurea n caper.
