Not compatible with my Sky+ HD at 1080i
6 November 2018
This ought to be a great way of sending an HD picture from one part of the house to another but sadly, in my case, it proved not to be compatible with my Sky+ HD box in 1080i mode. The problem was that the picture would stutter at least once every three or four seconds, often more frequently. e.g. watching F1 a car would suddenly jump back a few feet; watching any programme the rolling credits at the end of the show would jump up and down the screen. I fiddled around with the settings on my Sky+ HD box and found that the picture is smooth when the Sky output is set to 720p. It's not awful at that resolution but the picture is noticeably softer than at 1080i. The 720p limit makes this device much poorer value for money than if it worked as advertised. I did contact Marmitek support who sent me a firmware upgrade but that made no difference, to which they said, "Unfortunately this is all i can do at this point". At that price I expect better customer support. So, it may be that your setup works fine at 1080i, and since Amazon have such a good returns policy you could give this system a go and return it if it doesn't work to your satisfaction.
