The Cap is back and instead of a CGI fest of superheroes v supervillans, what we have is a great addition to Cap's background story as well as laying the foundations for future movies. SHIELD has been compromised by HYDRA and Cap finds himself as a fugitive. While some viewers might think Cap battling SHIELD a bit pointless, you have to realise that the comic books go to great lengths to build up storylines, and take great pains to give each hero a vibrant place in the Marvel universe. The days of "KAPOW", "THWOK" and "SMACK" are long gone thank goodness and it is great to see Marvel Studios doing the same on the big screen. There is plenty of action for everyone to get their teeth into, and a big dollop of intrigue and mystery to boot. Good to see the introduction of the Winter Soldier and The Falcon (understandable why he's not wearing the red and white costume of the comics, but would have been cool to have seen!). Roll on Captain America: Civil War.

5 Stars for the Captain: this was billed as a blockbuster when it was released and they got it right. It's big budget was well spent and combined with an excellent script, it can take it's place along the first Avengers movie, the first Thor movie and some of the Iron Man franchise. The film is crammed full of action, stunts and humour and should appeal to even the most die hard action junkie, and it nicely showcases Black Widow as well.

Imagine a thoughtful superhero movie crossed with the tone of 70s conspiracy thrillers. Tension and action is well-balanced and used effectively. Recommended.

After all the hype I must admit that the Winter Soldier, and the general exploits of Captain America isn't really my thing. The story of adjustment to the new 21st Century, is not really explored, he just is where he is and that is it. Even his new enemy is not new. I am afraid I am too involved with Thor, or the Avengers ensemble, and the individual members exploits seem a bit unexciting. Better together than apart I think.
But if a man carrying a shield in the days of laser and high powered weapons is your bag, go for it.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the best Marvel movies that I have in my collection. I didn't get the feeling Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote and squeezed in too many characters who are completely unnecessary to the story plot (some writers do this to accommodate the whims of the producers). The feature length of 2 hours 16 minutes is just about right: the storyline is tight and free from dragging scenes; irrelevant subplots were minimized, if not eliminated altogether. The dose of well-planned, unique fight sequences is more than enough to satisfy any action film junkie. Finally, its picture and sound quality are both outstanding- this reference blu-ray will surely showcase the capabilities of one's home theater setup.

Having been a fan of Captain America and Marvel Comics for a young child, have watched and collected all the Marvel films released to date, and the Winter Soldier is another great film to add to the Marvel catalog. These films really do capture the essence of the old comic books and bring the characters to life brilliantly. Real escapism that takes you back to a time when comic books ruled. Happy days!!

This film is pretty good fun, fulfilling all the cliches of a " fast paced, action packed," boys own adventure story. The plot is easy to follow and quite predictable but that's okay too, because most of us will know the story from the Marvel Comics or any other such, that we read when when we were kids - I'm 59 now and I still love this stuff. A strong cast, all playing it for real and a nice contrast of attitude and goals between the ruthless, cynical, Nick Fury and the dedicated, morally unequivocal Captain.

Get out the popcorn and enjoy the spectacle.

Great movie for fans of the Mavel Superhero. I would recommend that you first watch the original "The First Avenger" to give yourself an better understanding of the characters involved. I watched this with my Grandson of 11, who had already seen the film in 2D. We both really enjoyed the film, special effects and great acting. The 3D does add to the movie, as it make it feel more real and draws you into the action.
Clearly if you don't like the Superhero style film, this may not be for you, but it is certainly a great entertainment.

This review is more about the BLu ray rather than the film (the film itself is awesome!)

This DVD does not have a marvel one shot feature.... something i have come to expect with marvel films and am a little dissapointed there is not one here.
But that's marvels decision and I can't complain too much.
There are only a few features on the DVD itself and there will probably be more in future releases (as there usually is).
It arrived in next to no time and is an essential addition to the MCU collection.

Great film and the quality is good. I purchased it as a to keep hd download. Although I would like to be able to have a copy of it off of the amazon prime system. I hope Amazon do a proper app for android for prime video and allow the option to download your owned videos for offline use and storage especially if you decide to leave Amazon as then you will lose all your owned videos which is unfair as you have payed for them.
