I just love the way that this series has evolved over the years. New characters have been drafted in and taken their places and added to the richness of gentle humour which has ever been the hallmark of Roy Clark's writing. The two post Bill Owen series in which the ghost of Compo still overshadowed all, were understandably a little disjointed as the series, as a whole, struggled to overcome his loss and find a new direction, but with 25 & 26 new life has been breathed into the tiring format. Norman, Truly and Billy, with all of their stalwart companions, move the story on with a new lease of vigorous life! Forget the critics, just sit back and wallow in this vintage Summer Wine!

While I love LOTSW these DVDs are poor. Over-saturated colors varying from scene to scene, episode to episode, grainy film quality. Fortunately I have a TV with 3 picture quality settings of which I have dedicated 2 settings for watching these DVDs.

There are no liner notes or anything else included with the DVD. Just 4 discs that are layered two on top of each other, extremely cheap. They spent no money in producing these DVDs once again. Just as bad as the last set. I had been hoping for some DVD quality video but it appears that the lighting people were a sleep when they filmed these.

English subtitles only. No additional commentary.

As one of the opinion that Last of the Summer Wine has never been surpassed in TV comedy. As always the magnificent script by Roy Clarke provided exceptional performances from all the cast. I look forward to the remaining series being released on DVD.

Lovely series as always with several highlights, though the series is getting tired as are some of the actors, but still very enjoyable if you have watched the series since 1974 as have my wife and I and don't want to miss any episode.

I presumed that Summer Wine without "Compo" was a non-starter but this proved me wrong. Some of the new characters, such as Entwistle, are excellent.
