I lvoe London Grammar, Hannah Reid's vocal in particular and have been eagerly awaiting some new material form them. I didn't have this single/remix album and it had a couple of remixes of my the single Strong I don't have on my other remix EP by them.
The Arty Remix of Hey Now on this is really nice - probably the best remix on the CD for me. The Jonas Rathsman remix of Strong is a nice addition to the other remixes of the song on the Strong EP, it's a bit sparser but with some nice deep house undertones.
The Friends Within remix of Metal & Dust moves the song firmly out of it's album sound to work it into the same kind of soft deep house vibe on the other tracks and it works well, it's not over memorable though.
The pace slows down slightly on the Issac Tichauer remix of Nightcall which isn't an obvious choice of song to remix from the album but it does give a nice break from the first 3 remixes and has a fairly chilled vibe. I don't think the vocals have been treated enough/appropriately to blend it into the sound though and it's probably the weakest remix on here.
The RAC remix of Strong is another nice addition to the other remixes of this song on the Strong EP. It's much closer to the original than the other remixes and has a really nice stripped back, spacious feel to it to highlight the awesome vocals.
The last song, a remix of Hey Now by Sasha, is a nice upbeat finish to the album which builds into a funky progressive track before returning to a bit of vocal-heavy chill over it's eight and a half minutes.
It's a good collection of some of the single remixes and the tracks have been put together in a sensible order so that it can play through without jolting. If you're a fan of London Grammar and haven't heard many of the remixes then it's a nice sample of what else is out there whilst waiting for new material.
