I enjoyed this book, some of the characters are very interesting and you want to see what they are going to do next, or what is going to happen to them.
There are some edge of the chair moments and some I can't believe he just did that moments, some of the interactions are very interesting too.

Some criticism; the "baddies" are non-descript and formulaic, it's almost as if the writer couldn't really think of what to do with them to make them different, so just went what the hell and went with the big lizards. The teddy bears were funny though, but there is very little info on either of the two species.
They seem to be very stupid and don't come across as very frightening at all, which is a bit disappointing.

Having said that, I did enjoy the story very much and look forward to reading more of this authors work.

Really enjoyed this for the fact that it introduced emotion and motives into a military scifi context. All too often, this genre is about action, technology, and characters are limited to a "he said - she said" involvement. Young manages to build in the emotion and has more three dimensional characters than many others can achieve. Maybe a bit too much grief and hurt in his people, but then its better than some of the Superman type heroes who come through everything unscathed, and presumably with their hair un-mussed ! I managed to read it mostly over 3 days around a trip, so its a good sign that it never palled and lost my attention. Look, it ain't Ian M Banks (my benchmark !), but an excellent standard for the new e-authors who are being published these days. I'm hoping for a sequel. Soon.

Every small chapter a new set of characters is introduced so that after only a short time reading I can not keep up with who the story is actually about. Very hard work

This book is fantastic. The storey is good. Multi threads come together to peek in action scenes that are amongst the best I have read. Follow on a prequel please.

It is a complete con when someone decides to add a few pages to an existing book and re-issue. You buy the book and then feel the fool when you realise its just a lazy attempt to spin some more $s.
