Good player for Blu-Ray video and audio........
on 30 January 2016
Bought locally rather than through Amazon as I decided to buy it (my first Blu-Ray player) on a whim after Christmas 2015. I wanted a player that would play the Blu-Ray audio discs that are increasingly being released by the likes of Steven Wilson (instead of a DVD-A or V 24/96 edition). Feeding my hifi through an Arcam dac (stereo only), results are good with sound quality on a par with DVD-A as expected. I bought a copy of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' just to check the video performance: again, very good - comparable to that of my HD-DVD player (I do not have 4K).
Whilst I personally have no use for Netflix, Amazon Prime or Youtube (I have a pc in another room for Youtube music videos and a Youview receiver for Freeview, iPlayer etc, on demand) I did have hopes that the internet performance might be good enough for me to listen to TeamRock online through my main hifi: unfortunately, no joy - the pages will not load fully and then crash so I've turned the wifi off (performance is actually inferior and a lot more 'clunky' to operate than my Panasonic tv!).
To sum up: does what I bought it for but no more!
