If you enjoy a good novel, stay away from this one

I bought this book based on its comparison with Into The Darkest Corner and the many excellent reviews. It has nothing like the gripping story of Into The Darkest Corner and the authors writing style is, at best, straight out of the school for authors. My 7 year old daughter is being taught to use connectives, adverbs and similes in her writing - Rachel Abbot uses them in abundance! The storyline is obvious and even with the ridiculous character sidelines (the female detectives affair in London) I have no empathy with any of the characters. I don't normally write book reviews but felt that if, like me, you purchase books based on reviews, and you enjoy how a book can completely absorb you, then don't bother with this book you will be disappointed.
