I bought this player middle of last year (2014) and used it infrequently until the last 4 months or so when I signed up for Netflix. Since then it has become apparent to me that despite being Samsung's flagship (i.e. quite expensive) Blu-Ray player at the time it is unreliable at worst and temperamental at best. Multiple firmware upgrades seen to be to no avail and I find myself using an IT department's first and generally ultimate action of "turning it off and off again" with virtually no benefit far too frequently.
Therefore not surprised that Samsung offers only a 12 month guarantee on a product that is so disappointing. Do not buy this product.
Note to Samsung - try much, much harder as I'm about to go with Sony or Panasonic for a replacement and I will also be upgrading my TV shortly so not a good business model.
