TOP 500 REVIEWERon 3 February 2016
I purchased this for use at work, and have since purchased another for work as the first one was received so well.

When coupled with Skype, this item is brilliant for conference calls, and can easily be used for a meeting room full of people to talk to a room full of people elsewhere in the world. The sound quality is excellent, and it really does feel like the person at the other end is in the room with you. The controls on the unit are very straightforward and uncomplicated.

The speaker comes in a handy pouch, which both protects the speaker, but also prevents you from inadvertently turning it on by catching the buttons.

The USB cable is long enough to position the speaker conveniently far enough away from your laptop to not pick up the sound of the fan. The USB plug has a convenient notch on it which allows the plug to be clipped into the recess around the speaker in which the cable is stored, preventing it coming unravelled.

I have also used this in Bluetooth mode, paired with my iPhone 5s, and works just as well.

The speaker is just small enough to carry around in your laptop bag, but big enough to give a very solid convincing sound reproduction.

For any business which is starting to use Skype and other VOIP services more, then this is an essential addition to any meeting room, board room or just for taking on your travels, and for when you are not at work, you can just use it as a speaker for playing your music.

Just to confirm the Jabra 510 standard version and the Jabra 510 Lync version are exactly the same. It's just bundled with different software, which you can download and install both anyway.

You can be speak at a max of 2 meters away, at >3 meter it will not pick up.

You cannot use the 410 to sync with your smart phone. You need the 510 for its Bluetooth capability.

If you already have bluetooth on your laptop, you don't need the Bluetooth Dongle that is bundle in 510+ package. It has the convenience of instant connection without setup. With the standard version you just need to setup once and the speaker can remember its configuration for to 8 devices. Up to 2 devices can be connected at the same time, on the 2nd device it requires you to retap the connection (firmware 2.1, 5/2014)

The Jabra is often compared with the Philips wecall and the Logitech version. On paper Jabra has the higher bluetooth version 3 vs 2 but wecall has the better noise cancellation due to 4 mics vs 1. I haven't experienced the echo other reviews has mentioned. Facetime works perfectly.

This, in my opinion, is the only really good quality echo cancelling microphone/speaker system worth buying. It is better than some several times the price, easy to use and the re-chargeable battery means it is fully portable. it is very easy to pair with another bluetooth device and is far better than any mobile phone quality; it means you really can use your mobile without a headset. It excels when used with any videoconferencing system, both with a Mac or a PC, and we have used one in a school classroom environment quite successfully. it is well worth the investment, and makes difficult conversations less stressful, and group calls easy to setup.

Spend a lot of time on conference calls both connected to a Mac PC using Skype and via my mobile (iPhone and BB). This is an excellent device, it was easy to set up with Skype on PC and mobile device. The quality of the sound is excellent. Feedback from colleagues on calls has also been positive. The dual microphone system works well. I also like the portability of the device. You can basically take it anywhere.

Would totally recommend.

I've tried loads of devices but this is truly the best microphone/speaker device I've ever had:
- extremely clear sound, also at higher volumes
- connects with Skype seamlessly
- connects with my mobile (blackberry) seamlessly
- touch sensitive controls are excellent
- display is clear (through little LEDs)
- portability is fantastic
- even use it as a replacement speaker for my laptop (it plays sound wonderfully!)

I was initially confused by the Jabra site (as they had lots of different models of the 510) but glad I went for this one. It's truly brilliant.

Compared with most laptop mikes and our office conference phone this is head and shoulders above. I bought a second one to leave in the office so that when i skype in i can actually hear the other parties.

I got the Bluetooth version for £55 on Ebay.

That said, it's awesome. I do loads of LYNC calls and this baby really is like having your own little conference phone. Very light and easy to pack away with the laptop. Turns any room into a conference room. Easily outdoes a speaker phone.

Great sound quality when used with USB or Bluetooth. You can even listen to music from your cell phone or tablet with great sound definition.
I purchased this one because a colleague has the same one. Recommended.

Bought this for office use. I am always in a lot of conference meetings online . Plug in and it works straight after driver installation.

Used this successfully for Skype, Citrix gotomeeting, gotowebnair, Google Hangout etc with no problem.

Very loud and can speak from across the room and person on the other end of the conference call online hears me.

Tested with Skype on Windows 7 and Linux Ubuntu 12.10. Out of the box works great with a very very clear and powerful audio even speaking from pretty far (3-4 meters).
Plus: Compact and nice design.

Didn't test the bluetooth yet, nor I tested any possible long-term issue (just got it today).
