This is a dedicated impact driver rather than a screwdriver or drill/driver, but is one of the most useful of Ryobi's One+ range of tools running on 18V rechargeable (and interchangeable) batteries. The tool is usually sold 'bare' without a battery, but is also available in a kit with other tools and batteries. In foreign parts (eg. USA), there is now an upgraded three-speed version of this tool (model P237), although Ryobi have failed to respond to my question on when/if it will be available in the UK.
Like other impact drivers, it features an instant and easy-to-use non-adjustable chuck, which takes (only) standard 1/4" hexagonal bits. There are three LEDs around the chuck which illuminate the workspace, but are probably best described as adequate, rather than bright. Sadly they also don't feature a delayed dim, so are only illuminated whist the driver is actually driving, unlike (say) the DeWalt which implements this considerably better staying illuminated for 10-15 seconds after the trigger is released. One for the wish list Ryobi.
Power appears to be more than adequate and as an experiment I sank a number of 4" screws into a chunky off-cut without first drilling a pilot hole. The driver drove them all straight home without a struggle. Most impressive. The impact feature which makes this possible kicks in a little too early in my opinion, although that may be subjective. It just doesn't seem necessary to impact a screw that could be readily driven by hand. Battery changing as with all One+ tools is quick and easy. For ease of use I would recommend the smallest battery as the tool quickly feels heavy and unwieldy with the larger ones. And there is still a lot of driving possible even with the 1.5Ah Lithium+.
So if you are already a Ryobi One+ user, then this is a really good tool to have (it's one of my most used), however if you are not already tied-in to the system and are able to afford DeWalt, their brushless impact driver is close to perfection..
