It may seem a little expensive for this wine, but it has to be appreciated that it is quality, far superior to "plonk" at £5/bottle, at a supermarket. For the discerning imbiber, Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc is in a class of its own. It is smooth, delicate, but flavoursome. I have tried many other Sauvignon Blanc wines, but none match this for it's unique flavour. It used to be "rationed" in this country (ie, the vineyard limited the amount it would supply), and it was usually only available at certain times of the year. If you cannot tell the difference between this and "plonk", it is a great pity.
Prices at supermarkets for N.Z. Sauvignon Blanc have fallen in recent years and it is now possible to pick up a bottle at little more then £5.00. However there is a big difference between those cheap Sauvignon Blanc wines and a good example such as Cloudy Bay. Taste the difference - as they say at Sainsburys!
Ordinary 'plonk' at an outrageous price. Take my advice and go to your private wine merchants and they'll find you an excellent wine at two thirds the price. In fact, go to a supermarket and find better for £12.00 a bottle.
