Not an accurate representation of university life.
on 28 December 2015
I was, at first, apprehensive about moving away from my family for university and thought that possibly this guide could set my mind at ease about my first few weeks.
Quickly after starting it, I realised that this book didn't seem to have been written for the average person at university, rather it seems to have been written to prepare me for worst case scenarios. Not having a good freshers week, not making any friends at university, not doing well in coursework. Yet it doesn't seem to have anything about a normal person's life.
If your uni life doesn't go very south very fast this book is just a series of painfully dull anecdotes and irrelevant snippets of advice.
I passed it around a few of my friends at university to see if they got the same impression and their feedback was generally in line with my thoughts.
I gave the book 2/5 because I was able to extract some small amount of advice from the book but overall I would not recommend it to anyone.
