Clear guidance and examples

Such a helpful book! Fantastic aid to understand how to assess poetry for the purpose of an exam and how to structure an essay. Resolved arguments between mom and daughter about how to earn marks in exams.

Helpful but could be better

Some good features and ideas but the presentation on each poem is too confusing -- over use of little coloured boxes to convey bits of interpretation and ideas about the style of poems. For last phase revision most students need a clearer headline points approach --- bullet points on what each poem is saying and others on how the way the poem is written helps with its message.

brill book daughter needed this asap for mock exam and came within 48 hrs and delivery said 3-5 days...
provided her with all the silabus she needed and a few buts more as been her own book she could highlite bits not share schools book..also great price compared to some places

Very good simple revision guide covers everything you need to get between a 4 and a 6 however if your child is looking for a higher level then this I would recommend something a bit more complex however easy to understand and great for people just wanting to pass English Literature

Helped my daughter very much she’s in year 9 and does struggle with poetry sometimes but this book has given her all the help she needs! I’m so please!

These books are recommended by my child's high school and my daughter finds these are a great accompaniment to her English Literature GCSE. This covers the Power and Conflict poetry as part of the course and has good explanations and notes to help your child understand the concepts.

As the syllabus for GCSE English has changed (yet again!) it may be a little tricky for students to know what to revise and where to look for revision material. This book is a good place to start as it highlights key concepts and provides clear annotations of each poem. It is clearly written and well laid out.
