Not what I expected of an apparently highly rated book
23 August 2018
A bit run-of-the-mill this. The first chapter suggested to me that I'd dislike the book intensely; there was excessive detail of the murderer's techniques. Subsequently, I was able to go along with the drift of the story-line but I didn't find it consistently compelling. There was what might have been an interesting false trail and it turned out that the person Zoe was pretty convinced was the killer did not commit the murders she and the police were tracking. It turns out that her "suspect" is still in circulation, very conveniently for the next book in the series.
I have been disappointed in series sequels before too often to think I will bother here and in any case this book didn't whet my appetite in that direction.
