The Tuesday Night Club - the challenge: to solve recent/unsolved crimes. The scene is set; Miss Marple together with the locals, settled in her living room, Miss Marple quietly knitting in her chair as she astounds with her unassuming, razor sharp wit and knowledge of criminal psychology in the most gentle manner imaginable. This book has be the ultimate 'cosy' mystery - rather, a set of thirteen mysteries. Whilst I'm not normally a big fan of short stories, for Agatha Christie I will most definitely make an exception as this compilation transformed into a novel makes quite delicious reading.(The audiobook of this novel, read by Joan Hickson, makes for wonderful listening too). You will not be disappointed. Recommended.

A must for all Agatha Christie lovers. Her stories still hold a reader hooked until the end. Mis Marple is a joy.

Here was an Agatha Christie I thought I hadn't heard heard of and after ploughing through the first chapter I could understand why. Dreary!

thirteen short stories, as you might expect, but in the end I wished I hadn't bought it: longer novels obviously have far more depth. Short story writing is a great art and it wasn't perhaps her forte.
