Video: Set Up Your Echo Sub

Note: Echo Sub only supports music content. Alexa doesn’t process your requests because Echo Sub has no microphones.

Before you get started with Echo Sub, set up the other supported Echo device on your Amazon account and verify that is "online" in the Alexa app.

Next, place your Echo Sub on the floor in the same room as your Echo devices.

Tip: Before setup, check that you have the latest version of the Alexa app in your device's app store.
To set up Echo Sub in the Alexa app:
  1. Select Devices "", and then the "" icon.
  2. Select Add Device.
  3. Select Amazon Echo, and then Echo Sub.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to Wi-Fi and complete setup.

Tip: If you’re trying to add your Echo Sub to an existing speaker set, delete the speaker set first. To learn more, go to Set Up Echo Speakers For Stereo Sound.
