Return a Gift

The Returns Support Centre allows gift recipients and gift givers to return single items and items marked as a gift when they have been sold and/or fulfilled by The type of refund or credit you receive depends on how the gift was purchased and how it's returned.

Extended Returns policy information: We've specially extended our returns period for the Christmas season. Items dispatched by during the period from 1 November, 2019 to 31 December, 2019 inclusive may be returned at any time before midnight on 31 January, 2020. This return policy is valid for: all items sold and dispatched by, items sold by third-party sellers and fulfilled by Amazon, as well as items offered with the Prime logo, which are sold and fulfilled by third-party sellers. Our returns policy will revert to the standard 30-day period for items dispatched after 31 December, 2019. Please note that this doesn't apply to mobile phones with contracts. To return a gift:

  1. Go to the Returns Support Centre, and then click Return a gift.
  2. If prompted, sign in to your Amazon account. If you don't have an account you'll need to create one.
  3. Enter the order number for the item you want to return.

    Note: Your 17-digit order number (or "Order ID") is found on the left side of your packing slip or on the digital gift receipt that was emailed to you when the order was delivered. If you don't have the packing slip or can't locate this email, you can contact us. We'll ask for information to help us locate the order, such as the sender's name, their e-mail address, their phone number, and information about the item you want to return.

  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the items you want to return from the order, enter the quantity of items you want to return, and then select a return reason from the drop-down menu.
  6. Select your preferred return method.

    Note: If the return isn't the result of our error, or if you're returning an item other than shoes, clothing, jewellery or watches that were sold or dispatched by Amazon, return costs will be deducted from your refund. If you choose to return via Amazon Locker, you'll be prompted to select a Locker location at this time.   7. Print your label and return authorisation. Some returns won't require you to print a label or authorisation. If you don't have a printer when you're completing your return, you can print later (we'll e-mail you a link to your label) or you can have someone else print your label for you.
  8. Put the return authorisation inside your package and attach the label to the outside of it.


  • If you're the gift recipient, Amazon will process your refund as an Gift Card after your return is received. The Gift Card will be added directly to the Amazon account you use to generate your return from the Returns Support Centre. If you're the gift giver, you'll receive a refund to the original payment method. All refunds are subject to our refund policies outlined in About Refunds.
  • Gift recipients won't be offered an exchange or instant refund option.
  • Please note that, as set out in our Returns Policy, a returned item must be in the same condition in which it was received. This means that new items must be returned in the exact condition in which you received it from Amazon (including all accessories) . Refunds for returned items that are not received in this condition, may be reduced. If you've received a gift and wish to return it, the gift will be assessed and may be subject to a reduced refund. As with all gift returns, reduced refund amounts will be applied to an Amazon gift card and allocated to your account. For more information, please visit the About Refunds Help page. Once a returned item has been processed by our Returns Department, the item cannot be sent back to you.
  • If you're offered a pre-paid return label, please be aware that each of these labels is assigned to a specific return. To make sure that you receive the correct refund, please don't include items from multiple orders or deliveries in the same box.
  • If you return items in which you've saved personal information, such as laptops, cameras or other electronic devices, you must erase this information completely before sending the product back to us.
