Pair a Braille Display with Your Fire Tablet

Fire tablet supports the BrailleBack (Fire OS Edition) app in the Amazon Appstore. With the BrailleBack app, you can use a braille display device with your Fire tablet. Help for Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation), Kindle Fire HDX 7" (3rd Generation) and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" (3rd Generation).

Before you can use a braille display device with your Fire tablet, go to the Amazon Appstore on your Fire tablet to download and install the BrailleBack (Fire OS Edition) app.

After you install the app, you can pair your braille display using your device's Bluetooth connection.

  1. To pair your braille device:
    1. Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to open Quick Actions, then select Wireless & VPN.
    2. Tap Bluetooth and then tap On.
    3. Once Bluetooth is enabled, tap Pair a Bluetooth Device.
    4. Select your braille device and then follow the instructions to complete the pairing request.
  2. To adjust output settings for your braille device:
    1. Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to open Quick Actions and then select Wireless & VPN.
    2. Tap Accessibility.
    3. Select BrailleBack under Services.
    4. Select On and then select OK.
    5. Select Configure BrailleBack. Choose your preferred output setting: Braille type, Literary braille table or Computer braille table.
