Kindle Magazines and Newspapers

You can subscribe to magazines or newspapers from the Kindle Store on Fire and Kindle devices, supported Kindle reading apps, and the Amazon website.

All subscriptions include at least a 14-day free trial period. You can cancel at any time during your trial and you will not be charged. If you don't cancel, your subscription will continue at the current price using your default 1-Click payment method. You can cancel a paid subscription at any time. You need a credit card to purchase subscriptions.

Device availability and frequency of delivery are indicated on the product detail pages of magazines and newspapers. Your device needs a wireless connection to receive subscription content automatically.

Manage Your Subscription Settings

Kindle magazines and newspapers are offered in either annual or monthly subscriptions. Annual subscriptions auto-renew at the end of the subscription period until you cancel. Monthly subscriptions auto-renew every month until you cancel.

Go to Manage Newsstand Subscription Settings to learn more about managing your subscriptions.

Download Past Issues from the Cloud

Past issues of your Kindle magazines and newspapers are stored and available to download again from the Cloud, even if you cancel your subscription. Only the most recent issues of the subscription appear in the Cloud on your device. However, all back issues can be delivered from your computer. To deliver a back issue from your computer:

  1. Go to MYCD and select your subscription type (magazine/newspaper,) from the dropdown menu.
  2. Select the Actions button next to the subscription name, and select either Deliver past issue to my… to deliver an issue wirelessly, or Download and transfer past issue via USB to transfer via USB.
  3. Select the issue you want to deliver, and then choose a device to which you’d like the issue delivered.
  4. Select Deliver.

Older issues of newspapers and magazines will be automatically removed from your device when new issues are downloaded, unless you choose to save them. To keep issues on your device:

Kindle Subscription Formats and Special Content

Magazines and newspapers come in a variety of formats in the Kindle Store. Many magazines and newspapers include video, audio, slideshows, and more. Some newspaper and magazine titles deliver content through an app.

Select page view on Fire tablets, Kindle for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, and Kindle for Android to see a replica of the printed edition of the magazine. For easier reading, you can switch to text view, which provides the text of the articles. Most Kindle subscriptions are available in text view.

Tip: Some magazine apps are available in the Newsstand on Fire tablets (except Kindle Fire 1st Generation).

Subscribers to The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Wall Street Journal gain access to additional subscription features, such as the ability to view the publisher's online archive. For more information about special access to these publications, go to:

Link an Existing Magazine Subscription to Your Kindle Subscription

You may be eligible to receive the Kindle edition of a magazine at no additional cost after you link your subscription to your Amazon account on your Fire tablet. Access to digital versions of your magazine subscription is determined by the publisher.

  1. Select an eligible title from the Newsstand on your Fire tablet, and then tap Verify your subscription to get the Kindle edition for free.
  2. Select a verification method to link your subscription: account number, mailing address, or login information.
  3. Enter an e-mail address and password to sign up for digital access with the publisher (if you don't already have an account with the publisher).

For additional questions about linking your Kindle subscription to an existing subscription, contact your magazine's publisher on the magazine's website.
