Set Up Echo Speakers For Stereo Sound

Pair supported Echo devices for improved music playback with Alexa.

Video: Setting Up Speaker Sets for Echo Devices

For stereo sound, pair two supported Echo devices of the same model to create a speaker set. One Echo device plays sound on the right channel (right side), while the other plays sound on the left channel (left side). For richer bass, you can pair Echo Sub to supported Echo devices.

Note: Paired Echo speakers only support music content. Line-out and Bluetooth connections are not supported.

To get started, download the latest version of the Alexa app and check that your Echo devices also have the latest software update. For more information, go to Alexa Device Software Updates.

To create a speaker set:

  1. Place your devices in the same room, several ft (1 m) apart from each other.

Note: If you’re using Echo Sub, place it on the floor in the same room as the other speakers.

  2. In the Alexa app, select Devices "", and then "".
  3. Select Add Stereo Pair / Subwoofer.
  4. Select Speaker Sets, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
