2011 was a great year for music. It was the year Adele stopped people in their tracks with her gargantuan sophomore LP. It was the year Beyoncé stunned Glastonbury with a jaw-dropping headline performance. It was the year Bon Iver was awarded the coveted title of Best Album of 2011. It was the year Steps made an unlikely comeback. It was the year Chris Martin, Thom Yorke and Noel Gallagher brought stadium-sized indie back into our lives. It was the year The Vaccines, The Horrors, The Strokes and The Arctic Monkeys showed us rock 'n' roll was still going strong. It was the year Katy B and Nero showed us the future of dance music. It was also a year of tragedy; it was the year we said a premature goodbye to the late, great Amy Winehouse.
