Customer Review

25 September 2011
Although this is a relatively old work, it still paints a fair and unbiased picture of Stalin as a real human being, not simply a baby eating monster. Unlike some political biographies (the work of Robert Service for example) it is not simply a character assasination. It shows both his strengths and weaknesses and while it does not attempt to justify everything he did, it does try to explain his motives and the circumstances rather than condemning Stalin as an objectively evil human being. A very good biography.
