By turns very funny (the line "Is this Japanese soup?" drew looks on the train when I burst out laughing - you'll have to read it to find out why) and tragic, this book has a wonderfully-drawn central character in Johnny and a great pair of foils in Stevie and Mikey (who you would definitley *not* want to meet on the overnight bus from London). Throughout the book, I particularly liked the rhythm of James Yorkston's langauge - which, given his songwriting background, is hardly a surprise. The closing Epilogue was absolutely perfect. Oh, and wonderful chapter titles too! Throughly recommend this book.
