...but close-up is a different story. I needed a modern, square vase to fill with artificial flowers to bring an organic element to a modern, square-edged themed bathroom I'd designed. The design of this was exactly what I was looking for. Reassuringly heavy; restrained enough in surface design yet not overly plain. I would not recommend this to anyone as a present because the glass is not without its [many] flaws; tiny bubbles here and there and the external surface of the vase is uneven in texture in one area as though it was accidentally imprinted/abraded somehow when being removed from the mould. The glass is also completely clear all the way through and not tinted a greenish hue as these sorts of vases [more expensive ones] are, which you can normally see by looking at the cut glass edge along the rim. In all, fit for purpose, but if you are buying a gift for someone, spend a bit more money. If it's for yourself, don't expect many compliments on it.
