Wonderful book. I loved it immediately. I am a huge fan of World Cup Football, although I don't follow it much on a league level these days.
I ordered it mainly because if features football legend Pele. In fact he is featured twice, in 1958 and 1970. The book is a smart hardback, with a gold title on black. The pages are glossy, but the book is lighter than you'd expect.
The full page portrait of each featured footballer is the best part of the book. They are mostly in black and white and are of artistic excellence. The photographer has really brought out the character of each player. There is Jairzinho, Rinaldo, Geoff Hurst (who remembers him?) and amazing pictures of Italian, Materazzi, with his splendid tattoo artwork, all over his body. He looks like a South American drug cartel gang member somewhat. Very arty and expressive. Then there's young Mario Goetze at the end to bring us right up to date. Born 1992.
At the back of the book is a well set out summary of how each table of countries finished, from year 1930 to the present.
