Customer Review

27 November 2017
This is a comprehensive and throughly researched account of Mosley, both personal and political. It is a balanced exploration using extensive sources that expose his ultimately egotistical and loathsome politics. The historical context and the development of Mosley’s shift towards fascism are well drawn.
The chapters covering the period following WW1 provide fascinating insights into the social and political elites grappling with the aftermath of the war and the economic crises facing Britain. Anyone interested in British politics and history will learn a lot from this book even if Mosley is not their main focus of interest. One of the striking things is how close Mosley was to many famous and respected people on the left as well on the right.
This provides an excellent overview of the right in British politics and insights in to politics generally. This is not an academic book and could be read by the general reader or students. My only criticism is that some sections on the details of splits in British fascist movements, the personalities and connections with the secret services, are at times hard to follow.
