Customer Review

5 September 2018
At heart, this book is a collection of very beautiful photographs but it's within the insight into the backstory behind each of the players that the real magic is revealed.

The Dick Nanninga story is perhaps the most compelling in terms of context (he went back to work in the flower shop the next day and, when Michael visited him, the locals in his pub had no idea he had scored a goal in a world cup final) but there are gems hidden in each story that linger in the memory long after you've put the book down.

Hugely recommended - buy it to have something beautiful to sit on your coffee table but make sure you don't just skim the photographs and forget to read the intensely personal stories that Donald has teased out of the players as well.
