This book gives a wonderful insight into Turkish football and Turkish society more generally. It is a very warm and witty account, covering a wide range of themes, from the foundation and history of world-renowned clubs such as Galatasaray to the less celebrated local teams and supporters' groups. It has been rigorously researched, featuring illuminating interviews with hundreds of fans and many influential figures within the Turkish game, and many remarkable personal anecdotes from the author. As a fan of football, but with little knowledge of the game in Turkey, I found this book hugely accessible, informative and, above all, very entertaining. Highly recommended - up there with "Manchester United Ruined my Life" and "Fever Pitch" as one of the best football books I've ever read.
