by Sam Manicom
Edition: Paperback
Price: £13.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Read, dream, and be inspired, 3 Dec. 2011
When you get to end of a book and you are disappointed it is coming to an end you know it is good. I have read all four of Sam's books and the manner and style of them is engaging and readable. This is the fourth book in the series and although the books can be read in any order I would advise you to read them in the order they were published as there are related links and themes through all four.
Buy them, read them, and be inspired by them.
Plus I have met Sam a number of times, and he is a thoroughly nice chap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Want to Win?, 3 Feb. 2007
Before buying this book I read about it on the various forums, and for the very reason that the strategies suggested seem to go against established thinking, I decided to buy it. The book arrived on the Tuesday I read it and on the Sunday played a [...] NL hold em tournament on Party Poker with 1035 other entrants. Using just the position strategy I was able to steal the blinds 22 times out of 30 tries. Ultimately I came first, as much a surprise to me as anyone, I won $1088, so the book has paid for itself and then some. Combine this book with the thinking from Harrington 1-3, and you will learn to keep your head above water when the cards dry up as they surely will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something new to think about, 12 Jan. 2007
If you are looking for hand examples, or how much to bet pre-flop, on the turn or river then you will be sadly disappointed. This book is all about a mental approach to poker, and in particular on the internet. Vorhaus demonstrates that there is a wealth information available to better inform your decisions.

I try to take at least one concept from every poker book I read, in this there are at least 5 that were either new to me, or explained established ideas in a better way. Just ask yourself "What is an orphan flop?"

Enjoyable, readable. I have had it a week and I am already reading it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beg, steal, borrow, even buy a copy of this book!, 24 Oct. 2005
If you are looking for something to take your game to the next level then this is the book for you. Buy this book read it then re-read it and then read it again, you will learn something new from it every time. Styles of play, hand selection, betting pre-flop and post flop, turn and the river are all covered in depth but in an easy to understand format. The examples used are excellent and show that correct play will not always win in the short term but over the long term it will make you a winner. Whatever type of tournament you prefer to play this book covers it. Apply the concepts and you will be in the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the thing for the beginner!!!!!, 20 May 2003
I bought this book as a complete novice before going on a course. It is a great introduction for the novice and a reference tool if like me you keep falling off and want to know why. It is also useful as an introduction to more advanced techniques, and I am sure will keep me interested for many seasons as I seek to improve.

Psychology of Officiating
Psychology of Officiating
by Robert S. Weinberg
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Want your mind to be as fit as your body?, 5 Nov. 2001
This is a book to be recommended to any official involved in any sport. Whether it be active officiating sports like football, rugby or hockey, or less active such as tennis, swimming or athletics. From describing the psychological qualities of a good official, the book takes you in easy steps through a series of exercises and suggestions to a position where you as the official can be in the best psychological condition to give the best performance to the participants of your particular sport. Although written from an American perspective the book nonetheless still has relevance to any official, anywhwere!!
