WD 2TB Desktop SATA Hard Drive OEM - Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Warehouse deal - Half price !!, 3 July 2014
NOTE: I bought this model from Amazon Warehouse as a 'Factory Recon' OEM item (half-price from normal !!).

Unlike other reviewers, was quite happy with the packaging. No SATA cable provided (but I had spares anyway, so no big deal for me).

Drive worked fine once installed and initialised in my WIN 7 PRO machine.

A couple of websites that may be of use to VISTA x-64 and WIN 7 x-64 (WIN 8 maybe too ??) users:

(1) http://www.ehow.com/how_8574883_recognize-new-drive-windows-7.html

(2) http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/155795-drive-hide-unhide.html

... both sets of procedures worked fine for me.

Thanks for taking time to read this review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, powerful PC but quality control at supplier could be better, 22 Jun. 2014
Powerful gaming PC - CSL Speed 4718uPro (Core i7) incl. Windows 7 (by CSL-Computer, Germany)

Spec:

Intel Core i7-4790 (4x 3600 MHz)
1 GB SATA HDD
16GB DDR3 RAM (x2 * GB modules)
MSI Mainboard
GeForce GT 630 (4096 MB video RAM)
USB 3.0
WLAN (installed on PC, but not reviewed here as not required)
WIN 7 PRO

Ordered Tueday - got an email on Thursday saying that there would be a 10-18 day wait for delivery. It was actually delivered the next day (Friday) !!!

PC reasonably well packed - a Large(ish) sturdy cardboard box contains another (slightly smaller) strudy cardboard. The PC itself is covered in a plastic bag and surrounded by two-piece moulded polystyrene packing sections.

A molded UK plug and 'kettle' type lead is provided, in addition to the standard German 'Schuko' type plug and lead (it is a German supplier, don't forget !).

A small anti-static bag contains the driver disks for the individual hardware components within the PC (Motherboard, Graphics
cards, Operating system, etc). Also within this bag is a smaller wrapped package (approx 3 inches long) containing the two
wireless card antennae (my PC came with this card installed as a standard fit) - be careful that you don't lose these or discard with the packaging !

First impressions: The whole PC is very light and you have a passing thought that something is missing ! Some previous comments about the 'fit' of the rear panel (making the USB 3 ports unuseable) was valid in my case - in the end, I loosened two screws holding the motherboard and used a small instrument screwdriver to 'adjust' the metal surround around the ports until I could get a USB device to fit (any device does the job). I then retightened (but not too tight) the two motherboard screws and all is now well. A minor irritation, but surely should be picked up as part of the suppliers Quality Control (hence I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars) ?

Where a seperate graphics card has been installed such as this review machine, the supplier has helpfully put a large sticker over the on-board graphics port blocking it off and reminding the user that connection is to be made through the card ports (of which there was x1 VGA, x1 DVI and x1 HDMI - the HDMI port being the one that I connected to my to my 50 inch Samsung plasma for testing).

As has been described earlier, the initial 'boot-up' is in German and takes several minutes whilst the drivers are loaded, etc (all notifications are mainly still in German (with the odd English message thrown in for good measure !). Don't panic !

After several minutes, the Microsoft Windows initialisation sequence starts and this is where you change the language (and
keyboard) settings to English UK (or whatever your desired language is):

WARNING:
The Microsoft dialogue boxes also warn you of this icircumstance, but 'll reiterate that you MUST take care chosing the correct language settings at this point, as these CANNOT be changed at a later time !!

Just take your time doing this and all will be well (selection of English (UK) changed the default setting from German to
English (UK) with no dramas at all) !

The next signifcant point is to 'activate' the MS Windows product (mine was WIN 7 PRO) - on this review machine, there is a sticker on the side panel of the computer containing the licence number.
NOTE: I found it very difficult to read the digits on the sticker, as they're pretty small. However, take your time, read them correctly, enter the digits and all will be well again !

After this, the computer will eventually boot to the Desktop - just expect a whole raft of updates to be required, before you use the PC !

CONCLUSION:
I have only carried out the activation and intial boot-up of my PC as I've just ordered a Solid State Drive (SSD) and mounting kit
(also contains a Cloning software suite so that you can make the SSD a 'bootable' device).
With the PC "as is", so far so good. It's reasonably well specified for my requirements (office work with the odd bit of MS
Flightsim) and I will be loading MS Office 2010 once my SSD has arrived. I was extremely pleased with the price of this PC (hence the prime reason for my purchase!).

For interest, this is the subsequent SSD and adaptor kit that I have ordered - I'll update once it's installed and configured.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review - Paul

EDIT:

I have installed the SSD and the mounting kit.

Initially with a clean installation of WIN 7 PRO (no Service Packs downloaded, the standard 1TB Toshiba hard-disk (it's a type DT01ACA100, SATA 3 drive, by the way)was taking about 20-25 seconds to boot to a usable Desktop.

After SSD, this is now about 8-10 seconds.

The mounting kit contains all you need to mount the SSD into the computer chassis, although the supplied SATA cable is far too short (I have ordered another, 50 cm in length).
The mounting kit comes with cloning software so that you can clone the Operating system (WIN 7 PRO) onto the SSD. I had a slight hiccup trying to Clone my existing hard-disk onto the SSD using the USB connection (it didn't seem to want to clone). I cured this by simply connecting (temporarily) the SSD to the Motherboard using the power connector and SATA connector from the CD-Drive. I then just did a clone straight from my hard-drive to the SSD using the onbaord SATA bus, ignoring te USB connection (it took 7 minutes using this method).

I am well pleased with the performance now !

iTechCover® Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace Black Touch Screen Stylus Pen - (2-in-1 Pack)
iTechCover® Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace Black Touch Screen Stylus Pen - (2-in-1 Pack)
Offered by Phone M8 UK
Price: £2.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Do the job very well, 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Due to 'Sausage-finger' syndrome (can't press buttons correctly !), needed a stylus to use with my Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 (i8160).

This is a twin pack, the length of each stylus being about the same size as the screen on my phone. The tip has a rubber-foam attachment which works extremely well with the functions on my phone, requiring only the lightest of touches to activate the button/icon.

Each stylus has a pen clip, which means that it can be attached inside a shirt pocket, or like I have done, attached it to the outside of my phone cover-wallet.

Once assembled, a plastic 'widget' attached to a lanyard and attachment ring, allows the stylus to be attached to the phone when not in use. A word of caution here - when you receive the items, be very careful with the packaging, as the 'widget', lanyard and attachment ring (very small) are separate items requiring assembly and can be easily lost when tipping out theJiffy-Bag contents.

So far have used the stylus daily for 3 weeks. No complaints, particularly for the price.
Once ordered, the items arrived very quickly through the post.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sturdy windscreen mount for your Samsung smartphone., 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A real bargain for a fiver.

The mount (and separate charger lead) arrived very quickly. First impressions were that the mount, sucker and cradle appeared to be well made, the springs inside the cradle seeming to be apply firm pressure to the cradle sides when operated. The charger lead comes in a separate box.

Assembly took seconds and all pieces fitted together well (no slopiness or poorly machined edges, etc). When assembled, the mount is reasonably hefty, but the sucker is large and sticks well to the windscreen. With the phone installed, the arm/cradle does wobble a bit (its installed in a MK3 Mondeo) but hasn't come off the windscreen yet, nor has the phone escaped the vice-like grip of the cradle.

If there is a critisism, its a minor niggle with the two pegs that hold the bottom edge of the phone when installed in the cradle - these seem like an after thought, looking cheap and not too substantial (not in-keeping with the apparent build quality of the rest). However, after 3 weeks of daily use, they're still there intact (not snapped or broken/fallen off), so must be more than up-to the task.

The charger has a coiled lead which helps reach down to the cigarette lighter power-point in the central-console on the Mondeo, should it be needed to put some juice into the phones battery.

Overall I'm impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars So cheap and hence your phones look, 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Can't believe these were less than a quid each - a real bargain.

These soft-plastic type cases are easy to install and come in a huge variety of colours - so many, i bought a range of them because they;re so cheap.

Can't comment on their durability, but when new make your phone look quite smart ! Only one very minor niggle - I ordered what I thought was a two-tone (Grey/White) version but when delivered is simply an opaque-clear style. Never mind, the cheapness of these covers makes up for this slight disappointment (still gets the full 5 Stars !!).

Delivered very quickly, these are a real bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good quality case with a lovely design, 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Loved the elegant design on this case.

The case is of the semi-rigid type (not gel or crystal) but fits the phone like a glove. Holes are placed for the camera lens and flash. The phones buttons can be activated by presses of the the integral button covers on each side of the case. These are quite stiff when new making button selection a 'hit-N-miss' affair to start with - they do loosen with usage, making button presses as normal (i.e. when the phone is not inside the case).

A fiver well spent to protect the external case of your phone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable quality and well priced, 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Reasonable quality screen protectors in a pack of 5. Easy to apply, however, both my Wife and I noticed that wafter we had removed the last attachment tag, there was a considerable amount of glue residue left on the screen protector which required a little elbow-grease to remove (hence the 4 Start review).

A cheap and essential way of protecting the screen on your pride-N-joy. Just lok out for he glue residue once fitted !

Union Jack Hard Back Case IMD For Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 With 2 Screen Protectors
Union Jack Hard Back Case IMD For Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 With 2 Screen Protectors

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good quality hardcase for Samsung phone, 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Firstly, I loved the Union Flag style of the case - fits my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (i8160) perfectly !

A good quality, hard plastic (not gel or semi-rigid rubber) case that fits securely around the phone. Strategic holes on the perimeter align perfectly and allow the camera/flash and all buttons to operate correctly.

When fitted, the high-gloss finishes makes a drab black phone look very smart - in fact my colleague (who's an avid i-Phone user) couldn't belive that this item was NOT an OEM (Samsung manufactured) item, so good is the quality !

For less than 4 quid it's a cheap way of protecting your phones external case - and it comes with two screen protectors too !

Supergets® Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 Wallet Side Flip Case Covers Screen Protector And Polishing Cloth Hot Pink
Supergets® Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 Wallet Side Flip Case Covers Screen Protector And Polishing Cloth Hot Pink

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, reasonable quality and free stylus, 22 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A lovely bright pink side-flip wallet for my Wife's Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (I8160) mobile phone that appears to be reasonably well assembled (time will tell !). Quite stiff when new, it is a little awkward to strat with when making/taking calls - it soon loosens up with use and becomes easier to fold the side-flip panel around the back of the phone, keeping it out of your face during a call !

The two sides of the case are held together by a strap with an internal (not visible) magnet and so far holds the case sides together very well. Internally, a phone 'cradle' is attached (glued) into the wallet into which the phone is simply inserted into. Once inserted, the 'cradle' holds the phone tightly so it won't fall out. When required, the phone can be quite easily removed from the 'cradle' (for cleaning, upgrading, etc). The two credit card slots are a good idea.

The free stylus is tiny, but seems to work OK. One problem is that I found it difficult to storw the stylus inside the wallet due to the phones bulk. It may be easier to store the stylus inside the wallet, once it has soften up a bit more, but I've since discarded it and got a larger stylus with a pen-clip - it now simply slides along the spine of the wallet and remains on the outside of it. Obviously if you don't require a stylus, this is not an issue.

Overall, impressed with the price, the apparent reasonable quality of the item, only let down by the stylus storage inside the wallet (hence the 4-Star review).

As is always the case with Amazon, the item arriived very quickly !

Ex-Pro® Black Hard Clam Shock proof Digital Camera Case Bag CR277G

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera Bag !, 2 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
(1) Amazon - Quick and efficient as ever. The camera case arrived within 48 hours of odering.

(2) Product - Purchased for less than a Fiver (includes delivery !), I bought a Black coloured case to match my compact camera (= Fujifilm FinePix JX 520 black), which is also black and matches it perfectly.
Supplied with the case was a nylon wrist strap and a carabina, which would facilitate connection to a trouser belt-loop for added security.

The case is a hard shell-like construction, that feels sturdy and gives the impression that it will protect the camera from harm. The clam-shell elastic is very strong, making the two halves of the case snap together with a satisfying thunk !

Internally, there is a thin layer of soft material to prevent scratching of the camaeras casing. The lid contains a 3/4 size mesh pocket, and I was able to store my spare battery (in its plastic holder) and two additional SD cards, both in their respective plastic holders too.

Two external, smooth operating zips provides the means to close the two clam-shell pieces. Overall, the camera case feels very sturdy and well made. I consider it a bargain (a similar item was offered at time of camera purchase for over £10) and would recommend to any potential buyer.
