Denon RCD-M39DAB Micro Component CD Receiver System - Silver
Denon RCD-M39DAB Micro Component CD Receiver System - Silver

2.0 out of 5 stars Not up to usual Denon Standard!!!, 23 Aug. 2015
I had a Denon Separate CD player for twenty two years and never had a problem with it until it went "pop" one day and that was it! Still it didn't owe me anything after that length of time. This piece of crap on the other hand is very particular about the CDs it plays, any light marks on the CD causes the player to skip or stop. Other times the player will make an audible clicking noise during CD playback, which can be corrected by reseating the CD in the drawer again - BUT you shouldn't have to do that.
Maybe I just got a rogue one, but I WOULD not advise anybody to buy one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dodgy Disc., 12 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Let be clear - The three stars are for the CD performance and not the music!
The Music is classic stuff.
The CD itself, from track five onward tags the first 4 or 5 seconds of the next track onto the track playing. So tracks after track 4 have the beginning clip off, if your player is set on random or a setlist is programmed.
I've try the disc in 3 different players and it's the same in all of them.
Beware.

Grace with full blown rock band, don't expect any gentle acoustic ballads or folk songs, this is an all out rock album.

Not a bad compilation of Paul's career, but could have been so much better, Worth the price of admission though for - I KNOW WHY THE SUN DON'T SHINE - The Rumbledown Band, a track recorded with Frankie Miller, that doesn't seem to appear in this version on any other release.

Good companion CD to go with the original Hendrix albums, Contains lots of tracks that are on much harder to find / more expenses CDs so this one fills in the gaps so to speak.

Some great original songs on this CD, plus a cover of Gillan's "Nightmare".
Having Dennis Stratton in the band, you may expect Iron Maiden style riffing, well don't, the Album is more akin to the style of his era - Praying Mantis, or AOR, with lush backing vocals and arrangements.
The reason I've knocked one star off, is IMO the album is over produced and too clean sounding which tends to take the edge off, what should have been a really hard rocking LP.
But still well worth checking out.

Great AOR/Hair metal - Very 80's in style, with a touch of Prog. Good vocals, lots of keyboards and guitar solo's. Worth the entrance price for 2the sound of a breaking heart " alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars !3 lucky for some, 21 Jun. 2013

Comeback / reunion Albums are often a disappointment, But as a fan since 1973. I'm pleased to say that, 13 lived up to all my expectations.
Its all pretty impressive stuff.
There are some moments on the album when Ozzy's voice and Tony's guitar teasingly hint of moments on the classic 70's albums without you ever actually being able to pinpoint which moment it is. Frustrating!
A lot of the tracks are long and have a good balance of light & shade, there are some great rockers too.
It's well worth getting the 2 disc edition as the three bonus tracks are not to be missed either, easily as good as the tracks on the parent CD.
Some of the Sabbath albums in the 70's suffered from poor production values, the same cannot be said of 13 as Rick Ruben has done a superb job of getting the sound just right, He's allowed Sabbath to stick to their own original metal blue print and has not tried to update it to make them sound like a modern metal band. [If Its not broke don't fix it.] also Ozzy sings at the lower end of his range rather than a higher end that he uses on his solo stuff giving it more of the feel of a real Sabbath album.
This album in my opinion stands up well against most of their 70's output - and may even be better than some!
Sounds good to me...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rehash of other movies., 1 Jun. 2013
This review is from: Epicenter [DVD] (DVD)
One of the most appalling films I've ever watched, a part from the acting being horrendous, a lot of the action scenes are lifted from other movies. The San Francisco down hill chase is straight out of Eddie Murphy's "Metro" with the actors from this film poorly edited in. The Lift shaft scenes are from "Speed", I'm surprised the other reviews have not mentioned this.

The story also has characters introduced into the plot then disappear with seemingly no relevance to the storyline.

There a lot better "crap" films to watch than this!!??
Avoid
