3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best, 13 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Cover is barely flush with the phone screen which means the screen is more apt to get scratches as it will be in contact with surfaces if face down. Other covers for other phones I've had, have had slight plastic lips to lift the screen away from the surface - product comes with a screen protector which helps though. Overall just about adequate. Seller was fine and delivered on time.

Statistical Analysis: Microsoft Excel 2010
Statistical Analysis: Microsoft Excel 2010
by Conrad Carlberg
Edition: Paperback
Price: £21.24

4.0 out of 5 stars While this book is not an a-z excel tutorial in using statistics it provides a good mix of statistical theory and practice using, 23 Aug. 2014
Having slept through statistics in college I reached a stage where I wanted and needed to learn statistics to aid improved decision making in this new world of big data. While this book is not an a-z excel tutorial in using statistics it provides a good mix of statistical theory and practice using excel. One criticism is that sometimes the author does'nt spend enough time on the interpretation of the results (assumes the reader knows or has enough statistical knowledge to know) and what follow up is required or needed. Overall though an excellent text.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Introductory text but lacks detail and too expensive, 4 April 2014
Book is a good introduction to HDInsight (Microsofts implementation of Hadoop for Azure) but is way too expensive for a (240-250 page booklet) and it lacks depth to some of the topics.

Some chapters such as on SSIS (configuring a dataflow source and destination) and deployment issues (ie...what's a breakpoint in Visual Studio and how to insert) while relevant would be considered basic unless you have no prior BI or programming experience.

In addition the book is full of screenshots (which is helpful but should'nt take up whole pages) and needless code scripts or message outputs (ie...output from a log file that takes up 2-3 pages of the book). I would have much preferred including a chapter dedicated to Hive with more sample powershell exercises or examples to work through.

If your looking for an easy read(ie....to completely finish over a weekend) on HDInsight to get you started then this book would be a decent introduction. If your looking for a book with more depth and detail and you have some prior BI or Hadoop experience then I'd recommend another book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Powerpivot, Powerview and Dax, 2 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is a fantastic introduction to the new functionality in excel 2010/3 and to a limited extent MS SQL Server Analysis services Tabular model and self service business intelligence. The authors provide a detailed, clear and concise text which many businesses will find transformational in modelling data. Highly recommended for excel power users and those responsible for business intelligence in their company.

4.0 out of 5 stars Geat intro to SSIS, 2 Aug. 2013
Great introduction to SSIS. The DVD I found to be very informative and significantly augments the learning experience. The only criticism is that the quality of some of the DVD lessons was not uniform - some of the instructors provided more information than the book around the topics covered in the try it out exercises which i found very beneficial while others where content just to just walk you through the try it out exercise. If your job or business involves or needs to know how to manage, control or move data then this is a great introductory text to get you to an intermediate level in SSIS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent intro to SQL Server, 6 May 2013
Excellent introduction to SQL Server. Would have given 5 stars but 2nd half of the book being let down by some examples/text not being updated from prior editions.
