4.0 out of 5 stars Well over due - Good Album revealed revealed under the noise., 10 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Vapor Trails (Remixed) (Audio CD)
My Previous review of original was that it was a good album but so intense almost musically unlistenable.
This time round a far better album bringing the album to life with clarity in all areas.
A great Rush Album that was originally made under difficult circumstances so respect to band going back to this take the pride in their work to do it justice.
Great Album-Great Band

4.0 out of 5 stars Awakenings, 22 Jun. 2013
This review is from: 13 (Audio CD)
A far better Album than Ozzy would produce in his own right post Diary of a Madman
A far better Album than Sabbath ever made post Mob Rules (or may be Seventh Star but lose the Born Again Disaster)
So this Album comes to us a bit later than we expected but so what its Sabbath through and through.
Uncompromised and both parties re-invigourated.
May be short lived but if it is a great album to draw a line under the mighty Black Sabbath.
Well done Brummies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Album with what could have been a superb next album, 8 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Clutching At Straws (Audio CD)
Fish's parting shot providing a majestic parting with great songs, lyrics and dark deep and powerful theme of midlife crisis-alcoholism-failed relationships and demise at the bar.
A fantastic album in its own right but whats on the second disc really is something special with a set of songs that would have made the next album as good as clutching at straws. THe recordings on the second set are raw in places but the quality of the songs shines through.

Worth buying for the second disc alone if you already have the clutching a straws Album.

Mr Moore Lets rip in style here in the midnight of his life before his untimely Death.
Uncompromising virtuoso on top form as per usual with style-conviction and power from start to finish.
How many will be able to do tributes to this guy and do it the same justice as Moore does to Hendrix here?.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Marks - Top Band, 3 Dec. 2012
This review is from: ONLY FOOLIN' (Audio CD)
Great Band Live and in the Studio.
Good Studio Songs and Great Live Tracks Here.
Steve Overland just oozes class in his sound and songwriting.
I heard Shot in the Dark in 1982 by Wildlife - Yes Steve Overland and Bro's did this first.
Saw this great Band in Manchester and Metropolis put these guys back on the Map and long I hope they stay.
A great set of guys in it for the love of music that shines through every time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another class Album - well worth the wait., 21 July 2011

Great Band that stay truth to the sound. Saw them support Gary Moore in 89 and was well impressed with Out of the silence bought the next day. We all played this one to death. Blood from stone was the second and over commercialised with Dare loosing their foothold. I never liked this album and my interest dwindeled away. In 1999 I stumbled over the third album - Calm before the storm and was blown away again and have been since - had this been the second album this band would have hit the big time.. From then came belief and beneath the shining water and now Arc of dawn. All these last 3 albums have remained true to the bands core sound and delicate balance of rock and celtic style. Arc of Dawn is a great album along the same line with the Dare Hallmark of great songs, production and beautiful sound scape to a celtic backdrop.

Sure I like heavy rock but this is the softer side that just flaws effortlessly.

Well done lads.

A great Band and a great set of guys (met them in dublin in 2005 in a bar - very friendly and down to earth)

10/10 (again)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal are back and prove this is band not project, 10 July 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Thought the bcc first album was very good, fresh, heavy and unrestricted with songs moving into different sections and then great jamming sessions that felt so good and unimprovised and thought it would be a 1 off.
After touring and the band members doing their own thing there back with the second bcc album.
The testing time for any band is the second album and this album hits the mark and keeps going - this is better than the debut album and confirms these guys are the real deal and this is a band not a project.

Heavy rock at its best and in the old style -Purple/Zeppelin.

Fist few spins sounds a bit thick and blocky but bear with it and you'll be blwon away just how good this album is.

Well done guys - A sad year loosing Gary Moore this year but this album has put the smile back on my face.

Oh this is just so good.

Thanks for this BCC.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bland and poor production -, 8 April 2011
This review is from: Dust Bowl (Audio CD)
Like JBM but this album has too much country style and many tracks have the heard it all before. What is most disappointing is he production as the drums and bass outshadow the guitar work which is left far to much in the background. When I buy and album from a guitar great I want it at the forefront and not toned down in the back.

Middle of the Road Stuff this one joe and get the guitar cranked back up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric-dark-sinister- 8/10, 8 April 2011
This review is from: Welcome To My DNA (Audio CD)
Like this album and have listened many times and the songs have no dilated nicely.
The song has a very atmospheric and melodic feel with superb crisp production. The songs in places are very stripped down and very elegant with string sections giving the album a mature feel.Blood is like riverdance meets PT and really works, Far Away is heartbreakingly dark and the uptemp zigota, oxygen and the stripped down DNA give the album great balance.

Not against lyrics that say something and often the more soulful the tune and the darker the sinister lyrics give a contrast that PT do so well but... but the repeated FY all on go to hell is tedious and amateurish and although in your face states nothing.Geffen vocal range is clearly limited but his song writing is suited to Steve Wilson and the synergy between them is clear on this album.

SW is a class act and this style of music is the more verse/chorus short songs that the tree rarely do so it gives an edge to his music. Although Steve Wilson only wrote Wave his sound, production and musicianship is stamped all over this, I would give this 5 stars had the go to hell track not been there.

Blackfield are only a part time band but with 3 strong albums in place this is a real deal band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overspill material of B sides but a good album in its own right, 27 Nov. 2010
This review is from: Recordings (Audio CD)
A great set of material.
Dark-Sinister in places and yet very stripped beautiful and melodic with the balls out rockers thrown in for good measure.
If you like PT - you'll love this.
Certainly not an album of fillers although the songs are the B sides.
very-Very good.
Just buy it and crank it up
Great through a good sound system played LOUD!.
