Wildwood Tarot, 28 Feb. 2012
I bought this because I am a big fan of the Druidcraft Tarot, drawn by the same artist. I thought there might be some new elements in this deck that would stimulate or interest me. I loved the idea of the deck being based on the archetypes and elementals of the forest. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The quality of the artwork was not as good as in the Druidcraft deck, the images seemed to lack vitality and strength. Also, some of the unusual features in this deck seemed implausible and the result of some very woolly thinking. I didn't quite get the correspondence of cards with the wheel of the year and the replacement of the court cards with animals and birds just didn't do it for me.
The creators admit that there are mistakes in the deck and that they forgot about the design on the backs of the cards. This doesn't inspire confidence!
Ultimately, this wouldn't have mattered if these cards had spoken to me but, save for one or two, they didn't. I'll stick with my Druidcraft.
