Archaeology: Theories, Methods and Practice
Archaeology: Theories, Methods and Practice
by Colin Renfrew
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended university reading, 26 July 2013

I'm starting a "History with Archaeology" joint honours degree this September and this text book is on the required reading list.

Firstly, the book is hefty! Yes academic books are expensive, but trust me, you're getting a good deal here.
Secondly, the book is really well laid out. Sorted by chapter, it's very easy to find what you're looking for using either the contents page or the index.

If you've got a passing interest in archaeology maybe look elsewhere, but if you want to get deep, buy this book. It's completely packed with information, a multitude of photographs and illustrations, all of which are beautifully rendered in colour (for the first time according to the introduction).

I would wholeheartedly recommend this book, but I'd suggest you also buy a bag with wide straps to carry it in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, with three fixable problems., 31 July 2012

Otterbox Defender is a fantastic case. In my opinion, the best full body case on the market. I say "full body" because this case protects the screen as well with a proper plastic screen protector, not one of those stick on films. The only problem with this is that it can lead to weird problems with the screen protector sticking to the screen causing temporary discolouration. I'll include a link to a webpage detailing the fix (a very tiny bit of talcum powder on the protector) at the end of the review.

The case looks great, very ergonomic, easy to slide in and out of the pocket. The apple logo and camera are both visible through a thin plastic layer, and the charging port/headphone port are covered with little rubber flaps you can lift up to use. As I said, great case. You'll only ever need one.

If you're struggling with the screen protector, this should help:
[...] (quick edit here. It seems like I can't post an external link in this review. Just google "otterbox talcum power". The link you're looking for is from a site called "heyletsrock". If you check Otterbox's official youtube channel (OtterBoxTV) they suggest the same talc fix.

Overall, 4/5. Perfect, but a bit of a scare with the screen protector! Little bit of a dust magnet, but not as bad as the vanilla iphone. A warning too: the switch on the phone that turns it to silent is impossible to press through the case. I took a small knife and chipped away literaly 1mm and now it's fine. An easy fix, but something to be aware of.

Polaroid 58mm Aluminum Lens And Filter Adapter Tube For Canon Powershot G10, G11, G12 (Equivalent To LA-DC58K)
Polaroid 58mm Aluminum Lens And Filter Adapter Tube For Canon Powershot G10, G11, G12 (Equivalent To LA-DC58K)

The adapter is made of metal, and is light although it don't feel like it would dint or break if dropped.

I've not tried it with any lens converter, but with filters (or just on it's own), there's a little bit of vignetting if you're zoomed right out. Vignetting just means that the adapter tube gets into the shot, meaning there is black round the edges. Look at a photograph that a fisheye has taken, that's vignetting, but very very strong vignetting. The adapter tube barely covers the corners, and if you zoom in a little bit it disapears and your image is fine.

I use this on my Canon Powershot G10, and it does block the viewfinder, but the screen on the back obviously remains fine, so bare that in mind if you shoot with the screen turned off.

Overally, really good product. Exactly what I wanted, does the job perfectly.

GameBoy Color Replacement Front Lens Screen Game Boy
GameBoy Color Replacement Front Lens Screen Game Boy

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to fit - looks perfect., 10 May 2012

Not only did the item arrive almost a week early, it was well packaged, and works like a charm.

Pop the shell off your Gameboy, and using the little holes in the inside of the front half of the shell poke the old lens off using either a very thin screwdriver, a toothpick, or something similar.

Peel off the sticker, then place the new one down and you're done.

Despite how old my Gameboy is, this screen makes it look like it's brand new.

Worth the miniscule asking price to either revive an old Gameboy for nostalgia-sake, or to brighten up to sell your Gameboy on eBay for a higher price.

I bought this for my Canon Powershot G10, and it fits like a charm.

The screen protector is a solid, clear, and not bendable at all. The instructions with it are good, and I recommend you keep an image on the screen while you install the protector so that you don't end up sticking it in the wrong position.

The glue is only around the frame, so you don't actually stick anything to the screen, just the border around the screen.

The product is of good quality, and does the job.

2.0 out of 5 stars Average product but badly advertised., 3 April 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought these thinking I could take apart my Xbox 360 - Wireless Controller (Black) to give it a good clean. The product description says that these screwdrivers are the right kind and size for the job, however the screws on the controller are "tamper-proof" screws that require a screwdriver with a hole in the middle in order to fit into the screw-head which this product does not have. The build of the screwdriver set is average, but fully functional, if you just need a normal Torx screwdriver set buy with no hesitation but if you want it to take apart your controller look elsewhere. Try this one Torx T8 Security Tamperproof, this is what you need although I have no idea what size is correct.

Good luck!

I ordered this book as the only steampunk style art book I could find. Reasonable price for what you get, but the pages are bound a little tightly, and I had to slightly tear one or two of them to be able to read it properly. The writing style is entertaining and funny, but the real appeal of this book is in the pictures, which are top notch. It also includes a mini-comic at the back of the book entitled "Lord Cockswain's Marvellous Interplanetary Excursions". Well worth a read, I paid about six pounds fifty for it, and for what it is it could be slightly cheaper. But still definitely worth a buy if you're looking for inspiration to your drawings.
