5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant., 18 Feb. 2016

An intruiging account of the mind of the Russian spy network in the 70s and 80s. As an Englishman, I was surprised at how afraid of the British Secret Services they were! All the Western suspicions of the Russian ruling bodies is confirmed in this revealing book. The rule really was oppressive and dangerous to anyone who failed to follow the restrictive Party line.Millions of roubles were thrown at the security forces and foreign spies while the citizens live.d in very poor conditions. Whilst I would not feel any empathy with any person of whatever nationality being a traitor, Oleg Gordievsky is differnent. His decection was for truly moral reasons starting with the appalling attack by the Russians on Czechoslovakia. Also, due to his employment in various Western countries, he came to realise that the version of the West fed to the Russian people was totally false and that there was a much better way of living. He was a very brave man who took many risks and certainly helped the West and the U.S.A.

One of the best books I have read of its kind. Interesting characters, most with a seemingly dark past and an excellent plot that is very believable. The interest any intrigue is maintained throughout and it is as though it really did happen! Absolutely top marks and well recommended. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good thriller, 30 Dec. 2015

This is a good and interesting tale of dirty doings among the heirarchy of the U.S.A and other World Leaders. There is a nice romantic interest included but, being the second of a trilogy, the reader cannot find how it turns out unless they buy the final book. For me, though, I am not inclined to go for the third one as I found far too much detail and, at times, the annoying habit of many writers to describe what people are eating, even how it is cooked and how the person eats it. I am not impressed with that side of things at all. Also, although the writer may be correct (and I believe he is) in his political assumptions, it is produced in far too much detail and can become boring. Others may disagree and give highewr ratings but this is how I felt about it. Sorry. Bill Franks, eBook writer of 'Iniquity,' 'The Organization,' 'Jesuit: The Beginning' and 'By Fair Hand.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Class Thriller., 21 Oct. 2015

First class thriller. I enjoyed every bit of it. The main character is mysterious and likeable, one that you feel can be trusted to do his job, whatever that job may be. The presence of a severely unbalanced sniper killer is very real - just read true murder accounts, aspecially those in the United States. He is a frightening prospect and you want him to be captured but killed before a trial - his just desserts. The "will they, won't they" romantic theme is always there to keep things on a normal footing. I have a serial killer book on Kindle, 'Iniquity,' and I think the two killers would mix together very well. Bill Franks.

5.0 out of 5 stars TRULY BRUTAL & INHUMANE, 6 Oct. 2015

Truly well told story of a most depressing stage of anyone's life. Whilst I believe in the penal system and incarcerating real villains, there is no justification whatsoever in the sadistic and corrupt treatment of human beings as described in this book. Arizona, hang your heads in shame. How the writer survived at all, let alone with his sanity is a mystery.Left largely to their own devices, it demonstrates how many revert to their animalistic urges, that are violent and utterly disgusting. The prisons contribute heavily to this in their brutal and careless treatment, ignoring sanitary measures that can cause serious disease. It has to be remembered that these men are only on remand, awaiting their court cases. How could it happen? This definately needed to be told. 2.0 out of 5 stars The pits, 29 Sept. 2015

I really did not like this book. I enjoyed the last book I read by M.A.Comley but not this one. To me, there was little substance and didn't encourage me one bit to turn to the next page. The plot was poor and the villain spotted too early without any real evidence, after the D.I. at first fully beleiving in him. I spotted the twist very early on and so was not gripped or surprised by it. It degenerated into a Womens Movement bore, with men being kind of just around but not very intelligent - the D.I. and her boss knowing it all, which they didn't. I thought the derision shown toward the brilliant Interpol and the excellent work they do (in this case led by a man, of course) was deeply insulting. Come on. M.A. Comley, you can do much better than this!

This book shows the true evil that is endemic in today's world. The utter evil and savagery of some people is almost unbelievable.I have a book on Kindle, "By Fair Hand" that illustrates the wickedness of female killers in Britain but they are like friends of the family compared to many of those in this book. Well put together and allows a true insight into the murderous mind. Bill Franks author of "Iniquity" and others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb as always, 12 Sept. 2015

Does James Patterson know how to write a poor novel? Judging by everthing I have read by him, the answer is a reasounding 'No!' And this is no exception. The main character, Alex Cross, is likeable, has human weaknesses and is a real tough nut whose inner feelings can be tender and compassionate. The story moves along at some pace and builds to a suitabloe climax. Just when it seems to have ended, there is an added and satisfying twist to the adventure that brings it all to an end. Bill Franks, author of 'Iniquity,' 'The Orgamization,' 'Jesuit - The Beginning,' 'By Fair Hand' and others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing plot, 17 Aug. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An excellent plot and one that really could happen. Demonstrates how easy it would be to dispose of a major enemy - along with thousands of innocent people - and absolutely no come-back. The story moves along at an easy pace with the bad guys exposed to the reader from the start. The tension builds but not quite intense eough and that is why I give it four, rather than five stars. Likeable main characters with the hint of romance simmering throughout. A good read that I would easily recommend with an intriguing and original plot. Bill Franks author of Kindle books: 'Jesuit: The Beginning,' 'Iniquity.' 'The Organization,' and others.
